Braylyn Cook Interview - NFL Draft Blitz

Braylyn Cook Interview

Braylyn Cook

Cornerback – Senior

Morehead State

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Braylyn Cook:  6’0, 187, 4.49.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Braylyn Cook:  At school.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Braylyn Cook:  Missouri, Georgia Southern, Army, Navy and a couple of D-II schools.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Morehead State?

Braylyn Cook:  One of my best friends, Justin Abrams was already out there.  I came on a visit and decided to go there.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your overall experience at the FCS Bowl?

Braylyn Cook:  It was fun going down there.  It was in Florida, but the weather was cold during that weekend.  It was a lot of competition.  I didn’t expect it.  I had a great time.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest thing that you took away from that all-star game?

Braylyn Cook:  There is competition everywhere.  There were a lot of D-II guys there.  They were really good.

Alex Khvatov:  What did you learn from the FCS Bowl coaching staff?

Braylyn Cook:  They were big on finishing through drills.  They wanted you to finish every rep.  We did everything at full speed.

Alex Khvatov:  Were you happy with your performance during the game?

Braylyn Cook:  We would switch defensive personnel every series.  They didn’t throw at me at all.  Our group had a lot of three and outs.  I was happy with the success that we had as a defense.

Alex Khvatov:  What type of feedback did you receive from scouts?

Braylyn Cook:  They told me that I looked good in the one on one’s.  I looked bigger and quicker than what they expected.  I was physical.  They told me that I was very hands-on with receivers after five yards, and I need to tone it down.

Alex Khvatov:  What can we expect from you at the Pro Day?

Braylyn Cook:  The pro day will be at Eastern Kentucky on March 23rd.  I will just do what I do.  I want to run a 4.4 forty or lower and jump 35 inches or higher on the vertical.  I want to show them that I am faster than they think.  During training, I have gained six pounds of strength to my frame.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Braylyn Cook:  Coverage and ball skills.  I am also a competitor.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Braylyn Cook:  I am working on being more explosive.  I need to have a quicker get off.  My technique can always get better.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you rate your senior season?

Braylyn Cook:  It was a great season.  I wish that I could have gotten more INT’s.  I improved as a tackler.  I had 12 PBU’s and three INT’s my senior year.  I led the conference once again in passes defended.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career to us.

Braylyn Cook:  As a team, we never won the conference championship.  But I feel like we grew as a team.  We were 7-4 during my sophomore year.  It was an impressive season.  I had 49 passes defended throughout my career.

Alex Khvatov:  What are you most proud of during your career?

Braylyn Cook:  My growth from my freshman year.  I wanted individual stats when I was a younger player.  Now I just want to win, as I got older.  I grew as a leader.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Braylyn Cook:  The Valpo game my junior year, when I had two INT’s.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Braylyn Cook:  The Ravens.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Braylyn Cook:  Patrick Peterson.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a cornerback?

Braylyn Cook:  It is all about competing.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best WR that you have faced during your career?

Braylyn Cook:  My freshman year, it was Reggie Bell from San Diego.  He played for the Saints.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Braylyn Cook:  Freshman FS Starr Hutcherson, LB Jerome Brooks and WR Jarin Higginbotham.  CB’s Brandyn Duncan and Chauncey Johns will stand out next year for sure.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Braylyn Cook:  Growing up, I always wanted to play football.  I wanted to play in the NFL.  I love being with my brothers, and the competition in general.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Braylyn Cook:  Movies and video games.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Braylyn Cook:  I am a civil engineering major.  I want to work for my uncle and design and build airports and roads.

Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Braylyn Cook is….

Braylyn Cook:  A winner.
