WR Floyd Allen (Ole Miss) Interview - NFL Draft Blitz

WR Floyd Allen (Ole Miss) Interview

Floyd Allen
Wide Receiver
Ole Miss

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Floyd Allen:  My measurements were 5’9, 200 pounds and mid to high 4.4s.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Floyd Allen:  Right now, I am training at Ole Miss with our strength staff.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in

you?

Floyd Allen:  Coming out of high school, I only had small schools that were showing me interest like D-II and NAIA programs.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you take the JUCO route?

Floyd Allen:  I chose to take the junior college route because I knew that I could play at a higher level, but all I needed was an opportunity to show it and get a chance to get re-recruited.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you decide to transfer to Ole Miss?

Floyd Allen:  After my injury, all of the colleges that were recruiting me all disappeared, but Coach Peeler gave me the chance to come to Ole Miss as a walk-on .

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your former WR teammates: A.J.

Brown, D.K. Metcalf and DaMarcus Lodge?

Floyd Allen:  The best way to describe those guys is that they are all special players.  They all have the skill sets that can make them a number one receiver, but they also are some of the humblest guys you’ll ever meet.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Floyd Allen:  My strengths are relentless work ethic, route running, blocking and being a student of the game.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Floyd Allen:  The area of my game that I need to improve on is just making sure I take care of my body and I can always become even better at route running and being a better blocker.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career.

Floyd Allen:  My overall college career has been a struggle, but I’ve grown as a player through adversity and experience.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Floyd Allen:  The highlight of my career up to this point was my first game at Ole Miss and running out the tunnel at Vaught-Hemingway stadium.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?

Floyd Allen:  The biggest accomplishment of my career was getting put on scholarship before my senior season started.  I worked so hard to show my coaches that I not only was a great receiver, but a great teammate as well and being put on scholarship was a major blessing.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your overall experience at the 2019

Tropical Bowl all-star game?

Floyd Allen:  My experience at the Tropical bowl was a great one.  Mr. Quartey blessed me with an opportunity to come, and I can’t thank him enough for it.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest thing that you will took away from that

all-star weekend?

Floyd Allen:  The biggest think I took away from the weekend was that opportunities are so precious at the next level, and every chance you get to show everyone what you can do, you have to take advantage of it.

Alex Khvatov:  What have you learned the most from your coaching staff?

Floyd Allen:  I learned that at the next level, mistakes mean losing reps and that losing reps mean losing opportunities to show off your talents.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Floyd Allen:  My favorite players are Steve Smith Sr. and Tom Brady.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a WR?

Floyd Allen:  The most important traits of a WR is route running.  Being able to run routes help you get open and create separation.

Alex Khvatov:  Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the defense?

Floyd Allen:  Before the ball snap I look at safeties, their depth and read the corners’ body language to see the type of coverage I’ll see.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next

season?

Floyd Allen:  Braylon Sanders showed flashes this season with only limited targets, but this next season he will have a break out year as a starter.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the toughest player that you have faced on an

opposing team?

Floyd Allen:  Number 7 from South Carolina.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Floyd Allen:  The growth of getting better as a player, physically and mentally.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your definition of a leader?

Floyd Allen:  The definition of a leader is not always someone who is the most physical or smartest, but someone who puts the team before themselves and can lead by example.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Floyd Allen:  I love to draw and study football players technique.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Floyd Allen:  I will be an entrepreneur and invest my time and money into businesses that I feel will ultimately give me great financial returns.

Alex Khvatov:  What five words best describe you?

Floyd Allen:  Hardest worker you’ll ever meet.
