Marcus Keyes
Offensive Guard
Oklahoma State

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Marcus Keyes:  6’3 1/2, 315 and I don’t know my forty time. My best guess is that it would be 5.0 or 5.1.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Marcus Keyes:  I am here at Oklahoma State with coach Glass.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in
you?

Marcus Keyes:  I had a lot of schools: Louisiana, Oklahoma, Lafayette, Southern, LA Tech, Missouri, Houston and UCF.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Oklahoma State?

Marcus Keyes:  It was a great environment.  The coaching staff was great.  I wanted to be a part of something great.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Marcus Keyes:  Come off the ball well and I am able to drop my opponent.  I move my feet pretty well in pass pro.  I also know what defense will do.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Marcus Keyes:  My feet get too close together when I get out to the second level.  I need to do a better job on those screen passes.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your overall career.

Marcus Keyes:  As a team, we accomplished a lot.  We helped Chuba get to 2,000 yards.  I got recognition.  I was All-Big 12 in 2017 and this year.  We didn’t win the bowl game this year, but we went to some great bowl games the last two years.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Marcus Keyes:  Our team rushed for 296 yards against Kansas State’s defense.  We opened up holes for Chuba.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your teammate RB Chuba Hubbard?

Marcus Keyes:  He is a great back.  He is an explosive back.  No one can catch him in the open field.  He is a great leader and a great player.  He also shows recognition for his teammates.  Off the field, he helps people.  He is a good person.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?

Marcus Keyes:  The biggest accomplishment was the game against Colorado at the Alamo Bowl.  We beat them 38-8.  We put it on those boys.  This was my freshman year.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for an OL?

Marcus Keyes:  Be smart, tough and physical.  You have to know your assignment.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Marcus Keyes:  The New York Giants.  I was watching the NFL in 2011.  They went from the Wild Card round and won the Super Bowl as a sixth seed against he Patriots.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Marcus Keyes:  Quinton Nelson.

Alex Khvatov:  Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the defense?

Marcus Keyes:  The first thing is I see what front they are in.  I need to know what the defender will do in front of me.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next
season?

Marcus Keyes:  RB Chuba Hubbard if he is coming back.  OL Teven Jenkins, OL Ry Schneider, S Kolby Harvell-Peel, DT Cam Murray, RB LD Brown and WR Tylan Wallace.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the toughest player that you have faced on an opposing team?

Marcus Keyes:  The kid from TCU, DT Ross Blacklock.  He came off the ball pretty well and made some plays.  It was a physical game against TCU this year.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Marcus Keyes:  The competition.  I love the feeling of getting a player from point A to point B.  I love moving a defender from one spot to another.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Marcus Keyes:  I like to paint.  I painted myself walking off the field.  They are more cartoonish type of paintings.  I paint anything that comes to mind.
