Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Marcus Keyes: 6’3 1/2, 315 and I don’t know my forty time. My best guess is that it would be 5.0 or 5.1.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Marcus Keyes: I am here at Oklahoma State with coach Glass.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in
you?
Marcus Keyes: I had a lot of schools: Louisiana, Oklahoma, Lafayette, Southern, LA Tech, Missouri, Houston and UCF.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you choose Oklahoma State?
Marcus Keyes: It was a great environment. The coaching staff was great. I wanted to be a part of something great.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Marcus Keyes: Come off the ball well and I am able to drop my opponent. I move my feet pretty well in pass pro. I also know what defense will do.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Marcus Keyes: My feet get too close together when I get out to the second level. I need to do a better job on those screen passes.
Alex Khvatov: Tell us about your overall career.
Marcus Keyes: As a team, we accomplished a lot. We helped Chuba get to 2,000 yards. I got recognition. I was All-Big 12 in 2017 and this year. We didn’t win the bowl game this year, but we went to some great bowl games the last two years.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Marcus Keyes: Our team rushed for 296 yards against Kansas State’s defense. We opened up holes for Chuba.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your teammate RB Chuba Hubbard?
Marcus Keyes: He is a great back. He is an explosive back. No one can catch him in the open field. He is a great leader and a great player. He also shows recognition for his teammates. Off the field, he helps people. He is a good person.
Alex Khvatov: What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?
Marcus Keyes: The biggest accomplishment was the game against Colorado at the Alamo Bowl. We beat them 38-8. We put it on those boys. This was my freshman year.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for an OL?
Marcus Keyes: Be smart, tough and physical. You have to know your assignment.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Marcus Keyes: The New York Giants. I was watching the NFL in 2011. They went from the Wild Card round and won the Super Bowl as a sixth seed against he Patriots.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Marcus Keyes: Quinton Nelson.
Alex Khvatov: Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the defense?
Marcus Keyes: The first thing is I see what front they are in. I need to know what the defender will do in front of me.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next
season?
Marcus Keyes: RB Chuba Hubbard if he is coming back. OL Teven Jenkins, OL Ry Schneider, S Kolby Harvell-Peel, DT Cam Murray, RB LD Brown and WR Tylan Wallace.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the toughest player that you have faced on an opposing team?
Marcus Keyes: The kid from TCU, DT Ross Blacklock. He came off the ball pretty well and made some plays. It was a physical game against TCU this year.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Marcus Keyes: The competition. I love the feeling of getting a player from point A to point B. I love moving a defender from one spot to another.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Marcus Keyes: I like to paint. I painted myself walking off the field. They are more cartoonish type of paintings. I paint anything that comes to mind.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Marcus Keyes: Athletic director or principal.
Alex Khvatov: What five words best describe you?
Marcus Keyes: Determined, hard-working, strong, resilient and leader.
