2020 East/West Shrine Game - West Team (Monday - Day 1 Practice) - NFL Draft Blitz

2020 East/West Shrine Game – West Team (Monday – Day 1 Practice)

2020 East/West Shrine Bowl

Monday Practice – Day One

West Team

It was a very sloppy practice for the West team.  Numerous offside penalties from the offense and the defense on the first day of practice.  Signal callers had trouble with the QB/C exchanges, and many balls hit the ground.

OG Kevin Dotson (Louisiana)

He is known for his run blocking.  Early on, he fired off the ball quickly, showed good strength and got movement as a run blocker.  He also did a good job in pass protection in the one on one’s.  He displayed quick feet, solid anchor and sustained his blocks well.

OT Yasir Durant (Missouri)

He was a JUCO transfer who started at LT for Missouri the last three years.  He is athletic with a good frame and long arms.  Once he locked on and sustained those blocks, defenders had a tough time getting around him in the pit drill.

DT Khalil Davis (Nebraska)

He is an undersized DL who lined up inside and outside.  He was disruptive in the backfield whether it was in the scrimmage portion or in the one on one’s.  He displayed power and good quickness.  I saw an impressive swim move from him on one occasion.

WR Binjimen Victor (Ohio State)

He has good length, long arms and good speed.  He caught the ball away from his frame.  He displayed excellent short area quickness and ran some outstanding routes.  He was able to create separation.

WR Johnathon Johnson (Missouri)

QB Kelly Bryant was always looking in the direction of his teammate.  Johnson was another WR who made plenty of plays.  He ran precise routes.  He was quick in and out of his breaks.

S Patrick Nelson (SMU)

Nelson transferred from Illinois.  He is an incredibly versatile player.  He played multiple positions at SMU.  He was at his best rushing the passer in college.  He was lining up exclusively as a safety here.  He displayed good pass coverage ability.  He recorded a couple of PBU’s.

RB Tony Jones (Notre Dame)

He excelled in pass protection when he faced off against LB’s in the one on one’s.  He sustained his blocks well and displayed great hand placement.
