Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Jake Burt: 6’3, 245 and I haven’t run the forty since high school.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Jake Burt: Athletic Evolution in Massachusetts.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Jake Burt: My three final choices were Boston College, Virginia and Harvard.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you choose Boston College?
Jake Burt: The atmosphere. I was born in Canada, but moved to Massachusetts when I was three years old. I followed the program. I wanted to play in the ACC. They also provided a very good education.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Jake Burt: My best qualities are catching and blocking well. Also my versatility.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Jake Burt: I need to work on my whole game. There is always room for improvement. I need to get stronger and faster.
Alex Khvatov: Tell us about your overall career.
Jake Burt: My freshman season, I played two games that year. As a team, we didn’t have a great year. During my sophomore year, I got hurt. I had an ACL tear. Junior year, I came back and worked in a rotation. I was behind Tommy Sweeney who got drafted by the Bills. As a redshirt senior year, I was back in my starting role and had all of the reps. We were about .500 through my career. We lost to Cincinnati in a bowl game my senior year.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Jake Burt: Against Richmond, I had a 55-yard TD. I had a big play against Miami on third down. I caught a ball over a LB’s shoulder. We beat them my junior year.
Alex Khvatov: What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?
Jake Burt: Coming back from the injury and graduating.
Alex Khvatov: What was the biggest thing that you took away from your coaching staff?
Jake Burt: Be hard-working and be detailed. Everything is always equally important.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your RB AJ Dillon?
Jake Burt: He is a great RB. He is a tough player. He is the best RB. He is hard to bring down. He also has the speed. He is over 250 pounds and has 4.5 speed.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Jake Burt: The New England Patriots. I grew up cheering for them. I also like the Titans, Texans, Ravens and Rams. All of these teams know how to use the TE’s, use playaction and run the ball.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Jake Burt: This year, it was George Kittle. I have liked Travis Kelce the last couple of years.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?
Jake Burt: On offense, it is Hunter Long. He could be the best TE in the country next season. He is 6’5, 255 or 260 and he runs very well. On defense, it is LB Max Richardson. He is the anchor of our defense.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?
Jake Burt: Best LB was Isaiah Simmons this year. DE Brian Burns from FSU was good last year.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Jake Burt: I love gamedays. The feeling when I run out of the tunnel and being in the locker room.
Alex Khvatov: What is your definition of a leader?
Jake Burt: A leader shows up every day. He holds himself to a standard and never lowers it. He is demanding of himself and demanding it from everyone else.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Jake Burt: I like playing sports in general. Basketball, fishing and I used to enjoy skiing before I got serious about football.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Jake Burt: I graduated last spring with a double major in marketing and leadership management. I am going for my MBA right now. I want to operate my own business. At first, I will go the finance route or business route and eventually work my way up.
Alex Khvatov: What five words best describe you?
Jake Burt: Hard-working, perseverance, emphatic, passionate and competitive.
Alex Khvatov: Who will win the Super Bowl?
Jake Burt: The Niners.
