CB John Reid (Penn State) Interview - NFL Draft Blitz

CB John Reid (Penn State) Interview

John Reid

Cornerback / Penn State

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your overall experience at the 2020 East/West Shrine Bowl?

John Reid:  It’s been a really good experience.  It has posed some new challenges for me.  I have played a ton of nickel this week.  I have played outside my whole career.  I have played some free safety this week as well.  It’s been fun because I am going against top competition.  But I can still show my versatility.

Alex Khvatov:  How did your head coach James Franklin changed the culture at Penn State?

John Reid:  We changed the culture.  We had a lot of guys buy in and we won a lot of games.  We dominated at home.  We won bowl games.  We won a Big 10 Championship while I was there.  It’s a great accomplishment.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

John Reid:  The Big 10 Championship.  No one expected us to win.  We started off the season at 2-2.  Everybody was attacking Coach Franklin.  We were locked in, and coach Franklin knew that we would be able to do it.  We were happy to bounce back and get the big win.  We were down 21 points at halftime, we came back and won.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the toughest opponent to face in the Big 10?

John Reid:  Ohio State was the hardest opponent that we played against.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the best WR that you went up against during your career?

John Reid:  Going up against Michael Thomas my freshman year.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

John Reid:  My footwork and explosiveness.  My ability to mirror guys at the line of scrimmage.  My versatility.  Off the field, it is my preparation.  I feel that it is second to none.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

John Reid:  Getting more comfortable playing everywhere.  It is a different gameplan playing outside and inside.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

John Reid:  XPE at Fort Lauderdale.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at Penn State?

John Reid:  I came out of South Jersey.  I went to school in Philly.  I felt like Penn State was going to give me an opportunity to play early.  I also wanted to excel outside of football.  They gave me the opportunity and had the resources for me to do that.

Alex Khvatov:  What one word best describes you?

John Reid:  Dedicated.  I sacrifice a lot.  I work hard.
