Luther Kirk

Safety / Illinois State

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your overall experience at the 2020 East/West Shrine Bowl?

Luther Kirk:  It’s been amazing.  From visiting the hospital and seeing the top guys from college out here on the field.  It’s been great learning and competing.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the toughest guy to go up against in practice this week?

Luther Kirk:  I have seen him twice this year.  I have also seen him twice this week.  TE from NDSU (Ben Ellefson).

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at Illinois State?

Luther Kirk:  I grew up in Texas.  I was pretty highly recruited.  I had an ankle injury my junior year.  I dropped off the boards.  I still had Illinois State and other FCS offers on the board.  Illinois State was having a lot of success.  They were sending a lot of guys to the NFL.  I had a connection with them from the guy that went to my high school.  I seemed like a really good fit for me.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Luther Kirk:  I was a two-time captain in college.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Luther Kirk:  My speed, range and being a leader.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Luther Kirk:  I need to improve on my tackling, footwork and technique.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Luther Kirk:  I am working out in Texas with someone that I grew up with my whole life.

Alex Khvatov:  What one word best describes you?

Luther Kirk:  Genuine.
