Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Napoleon Maxwell: 5’11, weighing in at 213 and last time I ran a 4.48 at the junior pro day.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Napoleon Maxwell: With our strength and conditioning coach Andreu Swasey at FIU.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your overall experience at the College Gridiron Showcase?
Napoleon Maxwell: It was a great experience. I had the chance to compete with different guys and talk to scouts.
Alex Khvatov: What type of feedback did you receive from scouts?
Napoleon Maxwell: Most scouts were wondering about the history with my knee and whether I can be an every down back. I split carries at FIU. I can do different things coming out of the backfield.
Alex Khvatov: When is your Pro Day?
Napoleon Maxwell: The pro day is on April 1st.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Napoleon Maxwell: I had a few schools,
Alex Khvatov: Why did you choose FIU?
Napoleon Maxwell: It was close to home. It was a family-oriented place. I knew a couple of guys that attended the school already. I knew that I could showcase my skills.
Alex Khvatov: What was it like playing for your head coach Butch Davis?
Napoleon Maxwell: He brings a lot of history with him. He won a lot of games. He gave you the energy that you needed. He coached us hard, but was helpful at the same time. He told us that he would do everything possible to make us win. The team bought into his culture.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Napoleon Maxwell: I see the hole and I hit it with speed and power. I also catch the ball out of the backfield.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Napoleon Maxwell: Working on route running from the slot. I lined up a little bit in the slot in college.
Alex Khvatov: Tell us about your overall career.
Napoleon Maxwell: It was a roller coaster due to injuries. Going into my sophomore year, I tore my ACL. I missed that season. Going into the spring of next year, I was doing rehab and partially tore it again. I had to have surgery again. I missed sophomore and junior year. As a team, the first couple of years, we were down. The last two years, the program has been headed in the right direction. It is great to see the program go to where is it now under Butch Davis.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Napoleon Maxwell: Being a playmaker on special teams and on offense. Having the ball in my hands and being a team player.
Alex Khvatov: What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?
Napoleon Maxwell: Being here and seeing the program rise to where it is. We are respected in our conference. I helped make that happen.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for a RB?
Napoleon Maxwell: Vision. Being able to see the hole. You can’t be too fast or too slow to the hole.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Napoleon Maxwell: The past couple of years, it has been Ezekiel Elliott. I like Aaron Jones from the Packers as well.
Alex Khvatov: Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the defense?
Napoleon Maxwell: Read the D-line and how they line up. Focus on the linebackers and see where the hole is. Where the cutback will be and whether they blitz. I am looking at the gap responsibility of the defense.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?
Napoleon Maxwell: RB D’Vonte Price has played a couple of seasons with me. Shemar Thornton, the top receiver this past season. On defense, we have a set of twins. The Dames twins, one plays CB and the other plays safety.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?
Napoleon Maxwell: The toughest opponent would have to be a DE from Charlotte – Alex Hightower.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Napoleon Maxwell: I am a boring person. I am in a room watching movies, going to dinner, bowling and fishing.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Napoleon Maxwell: I have graduated with a degree in psychology. I want to get into correctional psychology. Help inmates overcome some things.
Alex Khvatov: What five words best describe you?
Napoleon Maxwell: Hard-working, determined, nice, open and dependable.
