QB Anthony Gordon (Washington State) Senior Bowl Interview

Anthony Gordon

Quarterback / Washington State

Ed Hunt:  How do you feel after going through the three practices here at the Senior Bowl?

Anthony Gordon:  I felt like the first day, I had some highs and lows and then the second day I regressed a little bit, but I’m really happy with my performance today.  I was able to bounce back and you know take the coaching in a positive way and I was able to compete at a high level today.

Ed Hunt:  What do you think of Mike Leach, playing for him at Washington State?

Anthony Gordon:  A very unique experience.  It’s an unmatched experience, and I really enjoyed it.  He was one of the few coaches who really gave me an opportunity coming out of a junior college.  I’m always thankful for that, playing for him.  I love throwing the football and I loved his whole scheme.

Ed Hunt:  There is some talk of similarities between you and Gardner Minshew. What’s different between you and Gardner Minshew?

Anthony Gordon:  I guess that’s a tough question.  I haven’t thought too much about that.  Gardner is someone I kind of modeled my game after a little bit in terms of leadership qualities and stuff like that.  I learned a whole lot from him the way that he handles himself and connects with each player on the team.  We’re different in ways, but also similar.  I like to throw the ball from a lot of different angles, he can kind of scramble a little bit better than I can.  He’s also someone I kind of model after.

Ed Hunt:  Is he (Gardner Minshew) someone you have a great relationship with?

Anthony Gordon:  Yeah, I have a great relationship with Gardner.  I keep up with him and his whole travelling across the world in the RV, so it’s pretty funny.

Ed Hunt:  What is the key to being a quarterback in the NFL?

Anthony Gordon:  I think being able to command a huddle first and foremost.  Don’t let mistakes deter you from pushing the ball downfield and stuff like that and you know just being able to get the ball into the end zone.
