Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Matthew Wilkerson:  I am training in Gainesville, FL at NUMA Speed with Tim Montgomery and at Healthy Harts Fitness with Clinton Hart in Ocala.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your overall experience at the CGS all-star game?

Matthew Wilkerson:  It was a great experience and great competition.  I had two practice days.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Matthew Wilkerson:  I had NC State, Florida State and South Florida.  I was recruited as a WR.  I was about 6’4, 185 coming out.  I was planning to go to NC State, but I was a non-qualifier.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at a junior college?

Matthew Wilkerson:  I had to take the junior college route.  I went to Ventura college in CA.  Then I transferred to Asa College in Miami.  I was homesick.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you transfer to Edward Waters College?

Matthew Wilkerson:  Coach told me that I will reach my full potential here as a DE.  I had a bunch of schools.  A lot of D-II schools.  I had Fort Valley State and Southern University.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about the school.

Matthew Wilkerson:  It is a historically black college in Florida.  It is a growing school.  Lots of humble guys there.  We have good coaches and an excellent trainer.  We were a NAIA school, but now we are in D-II.  We were an independent school and played a lot of the D-I and D-II schools.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Matthew Wilkerson:  Being a gamer.  I can come up with a key TD or make a big block.  I can make a play when you need to.  I can highpoint the ball over two or three defenders.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Matthew Wilkerson:  I am training as a TE.  Definitely my kick back in my pass pro technique.  Catching and route running.  I practiced more with the defense during the season.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you sum up your overall career?

Matthew Wilkerson:  My career had its ups and downs.  I had a great career.  I had six TD’s, 30 catches for 500 yards on offense.  On defense, I had a couple of sacks, 35 tackles, an INT, five or six TFL’s.  I was double teamed and triple teamed on every play.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Matthew Wilkerson:  The game-tying TD against Tuskegee at the end of the game with four seconds left.  Our kicker missed the PAT, and we lost the game.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Matthew Wilkerson:  The Jaguars.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Matthew Wilkerson:  Ray Lewis, but he is not playing anymore.  It is George Kittle right now.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Matthew Wilkerson:  #1 RB Maliek Stephens.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?

Matthew Wilkerson:  Cameron Mackey, slot WR for Southern University.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Matthew Wilkerson:  On defense, I was trying to break the QB’s head.  My job was to sack him.  On offense, getting the ball over the defender’s head.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Matthew Wilkerson:  Go mudding and fishing.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Matthew Wilkerson:  I am trying to get into Bethune-Cookman’s pro day.  It is on March 27th
