DT Neville Gallimore (Oklahoma) Senior Bowl Interview

Neville Gallimore

Defensive Tackle / Oklahoma

Ed Hunt:  How did you feel out here during the Senior Bowl practice?

Neville Gallimore:  It was a solid first day.  It was an opportunity to get my feet wet and compete against the top guys.

Ed Hunt:  I noticed you did well on the club rip drill.  Is that something you guys do at Oklahoma?

Neville Gallimore:  Yeah, just going back to the stuff my d-line coach, Coach Thibodeux, constantly drilled as much as we can.  It was good to see some of the drills that we did here, that’s something we are used to doing.

Ed Hunt: You’ve hired an agent. Has he talked to you about what round you will go in?

Neville Gallimore:  I was just told not to speak on it, you know because it’s so far away.  The Senior Bowl is just a great evaluation, so we can kind of dictate how far we go or the opposite.  I’m just here to work, to prove myself and to compete.

Ed Hunt:  Are you trying to bring the intensity to be a top 10, top 20 pick?

Neville Gallimore:  I’m just trying to bring my intensity, my game regardless.  I feel like I’ve got a lot to prove.  I just feel like there’s so much more ball in me, so I’m just happy to be here.  I’m learning a lot from all these coaches especially the d-line coaches, so I’m just here to get better, here to prove myself.

Ed Hunt:  Can you tell me about Jalen Hurts?

Neville Gallimore:  He is a really good friend of mine.  I got a lot of love for Jalen.  He’s a guy who is hungry, who has got a lot of passion for this game.  He’s always trying to be at his best.  Just being a competitor and his playing style, it shows.  A lot of people misinterpret who he is.  He’s a great guy.  A guy who cares a lot.  He wants to be as great as he can.

Ed Hunt:  What is the best type of fit for you.  Do you see yourself as a nose tackle in a 3-4 or an up and down the line kind of guy?

Neville Gallimore:  Again, I just kind of go back to 2019.  I showed that I was really disruptive.  That I could pass rush, get off the ball and show my athleticism.  In 2018, I showed that I can play the run.  The biggest thing for me especially being here today was just getting my technique back in terms of playing the run.  I feel like anywhere, any team if they need a nose, I can play the 3-4 or 3-tech or somebody that gets up the field and gets vertical.  I can definitely do both.

Ed Hunt:  You probably want to go to a team that has you pass rushing, you’ll do whatever you get, but that’s probably the scheme you want?

Neville Gallimore:  Again, any d-lineman would just love to pass rush and get vertical.  The thing is if you play at the next level, you have to be able to do both.  You have to be great at both and that’s literally what I’m trying to do.
