Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

 

Brandon Johnson:  Height is 6’0, weight is 185 and I ran a 4.5 forty at the junior pro day.    

 

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft? 

 

Brandon Johnson:  I train with a strength coach at Tulsa.  I also train in Dallas two times a month.  I go there every two weeks on the weekends.  I train with Ronnie Braxton there.  He trains with Aqib Talib.    


Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Brandon Johnson:  Texas, Kansas State, Tulsa and Arkansas.  I wasn’t a qualifier.  I went to a junior college.  It was a great experience.  Tulsa, East Carolina, Texas Tech and Kansas showed interest in me out of a junior college.    

 

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Tulsa? 

 

Brandon Johnson:  DB coach Fletcher recruited me back in high school.  I was familiar with him.  It was closer to home.    


Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Brandon Johnson:  Versatility.  I can play CB and safety.  I am a physical and a great open field tacker.  I can cover the slot.    


Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Brandon Johnson:  Opening up in transition quicker.  I am working on my acceleration.  I am trying to get a little faster. 

 

Alex Khvatov:  When is the Pro Day?  What do you want to showcase? 

 

Brandon Johnson:  On March 12th.  I want to show speed and dog mentality.  I want to show a team that they can bet on me.    

 

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your overall career?

Brandon Johnson:  Individually, I was able to play D-I ball.  I did good things.  I was a good tackler.  As a team, we had a strong defense.  I didn’t play the first year on defense, I played on special teams.  I started 12 games my senior year.    


Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

 

Brandon Johnson:  The Michigan State game my senior year.  It was my first game starting, and I did pretty good.    

 

Alex Khvatov:  What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of? 

 

Brandon Johnson:  Being able to play the game that I love and continue to keep making plays.      

 

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a DB?

Brandon Johnson:  Being coachable.  You need to learn a lot and take it all in.    


Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

 

Brandon Johnson:  I am a Dallas Cowboys fan.    


Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Brandon Johnson:  Tyrann Mathieu.    


Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Brandon Johnson:  #2 WR Keylon Stokes, #12 CB Allie Green IV and #23 LB Zaven Collins.   

 

Alex Khvatov:  What can we expect from Tulsa next season?

 

Brandon Johnson:  If they fill some spots in the secondary, they should be fine on defense.  But the offense should be our strength next season.  They should take that step up this upcoming year and go to a bowl game.     


Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?

Brandon Johnson:  WR James Proche from SMU.  He had big hands and he competed the whole game.    

 

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Brandon Johnson:  I love the atmosphere.  Everyone is watching you.  It is an unbelievable feeling when you make a play.   

 

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Brandon Johnson:  I like to play basketball and go swimming.    

 

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NBA player?

 

Brandon Johnson:  I was a huge Kobe Bryant fan. 


Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Brandon Johnson:  I want to give back to the community.  I want to get into coaching and work my way up to a 

D-1 football coach.  I also want to start my own business.    

 

Alex Khvatov:  What one word best describes you?

Brandon Johnson:  Ambitious.
