Davon Hamilton
Defensive Tackle / Ohio State
Ed Hunt: Tell us about this Senior Bowl experience.
Davon Hamilton: It’s a great experience. Not many people get to do this. When you grow up as a kid, you get to see this game. I am glad that I can be a part of it.
Ed Hunt: What do you want to show NFL teams this week?
Davon Hamilton: I want to show them more of my personality. The fact that I can pass rush. There are a lot of questions behind that.
Ed Hunt: Playing at a big program like Ohio State, is this a big adjustment playing with the top guys at the Senior Bowl?
Davon Hamilton: No not really. At the same time, yeah. You don’t really get to see this many guys on one team. Really successful guys. At the same time, I’ve gone against a lot of really good talent in my day at Ohio State
Ed Hunt: What technique are you going to play here in Mobile?
Davon Hamilton: I’m going to be jumping around here as much as possible. I want to show my versatility, but probably the three and nose.
Ed Hunt: What are the NFL scouts telling you as far as position?
Davon Hamilton: I haven’t really gotten any feedback on that. Honestly, they just want to see how I do at either position and see how effective I am.
Ed Hunt: What is your biggest attribute that you bring to the field?
Davon Hamilton: How consistent I am on a week in and week out basis.
Ed Hunt: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Davon Hamilton: Show more of my pass rush.
Ed Hunt: What can you tell me about Ryan Day as a first-year coach?
Davon Hamilton: I loved him. I thought he was a great coach. He is a really great man outside football, and I wish him the best of luck as he continues on as the coach of Ohio State.
Ed Hunt: You played for Urban Meyer as well. Can you tell me about Urban Meyer?
Davon Hamilton: He’s also a great coach. He’s fundamentally sound. He really teaches you the game and he kind of helps you out for the most part outside of football.
Ed Hunt: What is the highlight of your career?
Davon Hamilton: Our first-time playing Wisconsin was a big game for me. It was a big win for our team.
Ed Hunt: Which team in the Big 10 had the best OL group?
Davon Hamilton: Wisconsin or Michigan. They were talented teams.
Ed Hunt: What made you choose Ohio State?
Davon Hamilton: I’m from Columbus, Ohio. It just kind of made it easy. My family was there. Probably the best opportunity for me and the best coaching staff.
Ed Hunt: What star recruit were you coming out of high school?
Davon Hamilton: I was a three star.
Ed Hunt: How many years did you start at Ohio State?
Davon Hamilton: I only started this last season.
Ed Hunt: What can you tell me about Nick Bosa?
Davon Hamilton: He’s a very explosive player. Very fundamentally sound when it comes to the pass rush, but also run blocking. Really a great guy as well. We don’t really have any bad guys on our team. Really good pass guy. He’s willing to teach you as much as possible to be successful.
Ed Hunt: What can you tell me about LB Malik Harrison?
Davon Hamilton: Very fast, explosive linebacker. Willing to fill any gaps. He could also cover very well. He’s real lanky, so that helps him bat down a lot of balls. That kind of helps when he’s a former basketball player, so that’s about it.
Ed Hunt: What was the biggest difference between Dwayne Haskins and Justin Fields?
Davon Hamilton: Justin is a little more mobile. He is willing to move a lot in the pocket. At the same time, they can both throw the ball. They are smart QB’s and talented.
Ed Hunt: Who was the toughest teammate to go up against in practice?
Davon Hamilton: We had a good group of OL on our team. I can’t just pick one guy. They helped me get better.
Ed Hunt: Tell me about the Clemson game in the semifinal CFB playoff.
Davon Hamilton: It was a great game to be a part of. I enjoyed myself there. Even though things didn’t work out, and we didn’t win. I am glad that I got the opportunity to be there.
