Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Karl Mofor:  5’8 and current weight is 225.     

Alex Khvatov:  How are you currently preparing for the 2020 season with no offseason training?

Karl Mofor:  I am doing body weight exercises, stretching and running a lot.  I go to the field and run there a lot.   

Alex Khvatov:  Besides football, what other sports did you play in high school?

Karl Mofor:  I ran track in high school.  I did the shot put and I was a sprinter.  I did the 60m indoor, 100m outdoor, and a 4x100m relay.  My senior year, we placed second in the 4x100m relay. 

Alex Khvatov:  How has your track background helped you on the football field?

Karl Mofor:  Track has helped me with more explosion and a quicker burst.    

Alex Khvatov:  What positions did you play in high school? 

Karl Mofor:  I played RB, LB, safety, and slot WR.  Primarily, I was a slot receiver, but I transferred to RB my junior year.    


Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Karl Mofor:  I committed to Albany before my senior year.  There was interest from Buffalo, Morgan State, and Holy Cross.    

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at Albany? 

Karl Mofor:  The coaches showed that they cared about me as a person and as a football player.  The treated me like family. 

Alex Khvatov:  Where did you grow up? 

Karl Mofor:  I was born in Cameroon, West Africa.  I was raised in Maryland.  I moved there at the age of six.   

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your overall career.        

Karl Mofor:  I played in every game since my freshman year.  I played in 36 games and started in 21 games.  I didn’t start the first game, but I still gained over 100 yards.  My first year, Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks was injured and played in only one game.  I started as a freshman.  I shared carries with him my sophomore year.  I only started one game during my sophomore year.  Junior year, I was the starter.  I got a lot of carries.  I gained 1,290 yards and scored 10 TD’s.  I was also close to 400 receiving yards on the season.  I understood the game more.  It was my breakout season.  I was a second team All-American by Hero Sports and first team all-conference.  We placed second in the conference and lost in the second round of the playoffs to Montana State last year.  This year, I was named preseason All-American by Hero Sports. 

Alex Khvatov:  What can we expect from Albany this upcoming season? 

Karl Mofor:  The goal is to win every game.  Go as far in the playoffs as we can.      

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Karl Mofor:  I bring versatility and leadership.  I was a captain my junior year.   

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Karl Mofor:  I need to improve upon my mobility and just working on my explosion.  Get more explosive plays.    


Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Karl Mofor:  Beating Stony Brook my sophomore year.  We had a good game.  It was the last game of the season.  They were ranked in the top 10.    

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest lesson that you have taken away from your coaching staff? 

Karl Mofor:  The biggest lesson is to train with intent and try to get better every day.  Win the day.  Do it with intent and purpose.    

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team? 

Karl Mofor:  Baltimore Ravens.   

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Karl Mofor:  QB Lamar Jackson.    

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for this upcoming season?

Karl Mofor:  Tyler Carswell, Jeff Undercuffler, Levi Metheny, Danny Damico, Anthony Lang, and Mazon Walker.    


Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?

Karl Mofor:  Maine LB Sterling Sheffield.  He graduated in 2018.    

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a RB?

Karl Mofor:  Patience makes a successful RB.  You have to see and wait for the holes to develop.    

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Karl Mofor:  Being able to express myself.  You think about different strategies and technique.  You have to think on the fly freely.    

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Karl Mofor:  Away from the field, I listen to music and play video games.  I also like to cook. 

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite food to cook?

Karl Mofor:  My favorite food is Mac and Cheese.  I also like to cook chicken, either fried or on the grill.    

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Karl Mofor:  I want to use my knowledge and empower the youth.  Be a high school coach or run a non-profit organization.  My major is in cyber security and minor is in information technology.  I should graduate this December. 

Alex Khvatov:  How important is education to you?

Karl Mofor:  My mom is a high school teacher.  The more you know, the better you will be off.  I value education a great deal. 

Alex Khvatov:  What five words best describe you?

Karl Mofor:  Funny, kind-hearted, respectful, responsible, and open-minded.
