Ed Hunt: What are your measurements? (Height, Weight and 40 time)
Eric Jackson: I’m 6’1, 217 and I haven’t run a 40 in a while.
Ed Hunt: What has happened to your training due to the COVID-19?
Eric Jackson: It’s been a little bit difficult, and I’ve been training with players from The Citadel. There is a field behind my house.
Ed Hunt: What are the expectations for Lenoir-Rhyne in 2020?
Eric Jackson: I’m planning to do really good, win the conference championship and win the national championship.
Ed Hunt: What is the biggest strength of this team in 2020?
Eric Jackson: The biggest strength is how well we get along. The love we have for each other. We are all pushing each other to be great.
Ed Hunt: What schools were interested in you out of high school?
Eric Jackson: I talked to a few schools. I had a preferred walk on at USC, and I’m pretty sure I had a preferred walk on at Georgia Teach. My only big offers were from Lenoir-Rhyne and Limestone.
Ed Hunt: What made you choose Lenoir-Rhyne?
Eric Jackson: The small campus. You could talk to teachers and going to facilities and my old coaching staff. My defensive back coach talked to me for a long while.
Ed Hunt: What is your biggest sport outside of football?
Eric Jackson: It would probably be basketball. I played in high school on a two-time state Championship team. Back to back champions.
Ed Hunt: What is your biggest accomplishment in that sport?
Eric Jackson: The people I played with. Many played at schools like Vanderbilt and Yale and one plays football at The Citadel.
Ed Hunt: What are your strengths (on the football field)?
Eric Jackson: I would say I understand defense really well. I’m always giving effort on every play. I’m very physical.
Ed Hunt: What are you working on as far as weaknesses?
Eric Jackson: My weakness would be getting faster, footwork and transform my body to be even better and technique.
Ed Hunt: What was the highlight of your career?
Eric Jackson: Our game against Wingate on ESPN 3. I had to step in at free safety. I had like twelve tackles. That year, it was just a great win for us.
Ed Hunt: What is your biggest accomplishment in college?
Eric Jackson: I would say making the Dean’s list.
Ed Hunt: What have you learned the most from your coaching staff?
Eric Jackson: Everything is about the little things. Academically, as a man. Being on the field. Being respectful and being on time. It will help you play better.
Ed Hunt: What is your favorite NFL team?
Eric Jackson: Dallas Cowboys.
Ed Hunt: Who is an NFL player you model your game after or watch tape on?
Eric Jackson: I watch Jamal Adams a lot.
Ed Hunt: What is the most important trait for a defensive back?
Eric Jackson: Being able to understand you are the last line of defense. You just have to have confidence that you are the last line of defense.
Ed Hunt: Before the ball is snapped, what tendencies are you looking for in the offense?
Eric Jackson: Tendencies I am looking for is just formation. I’m just seeing who are the biggest targets? Just seeing where he is. Just being able to see the formation. Who are the common targets?
Ed Hunt: What players from your team should we keep an eye on for next year whether it be seniors or underclassmen?
Eric Jackson: Dareke Young, Jason Poe, Dan Louba, and Ameen Stevens.
Ed Hunt: Who is the best player you have faced on an opposing team?
Eric Jackson: I would have to say Jalen Brooks. He is a receiver from Wingate. He is a baller.
Ed Hunt: What do you enjoy most about football?
Eric Jackson: I really enjoy just going out and having fun. Putting on a show. It’s just a time to not think about things in my life, I just go out and perform.
Ed Hunt: What makes you unique?
Eric Jackson: What makes me unique is the effort I have. I always give it 100%. I may not be the most athletic, but effort puts me right there.
Ed Hunt: What are your hobbies?
Eric Jackson: I really do like bowling and playing basketball.
Ed Hunt: What do you want to do with your life after your football career?
Eric Jackson: I would really like to go into cybersecurity. Whether it would be in the military or private. One day, take over my dad’s nonprofit R3 INC. It helps teens and kids and its in the Charlestown area. They just help at-risk teens. They do outreach programs to parents. Everything to help parents.

Eric Jackson: Humble, leader, effort, perseverance, and collaborative.
