Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Keith Coffee: I am 6’4, 195 and I run a 4.4.
Alex Khvatov: How did you prepare for the 2020 season with no offseason training?
Keith Coffee: I was in Florida. I was doing home workouts. I ran routes at whatever field I can find. I used cones for agility drills and caught the ball from the Jugs machine.
Alex Khvatov: What can we expect from your team this upcoming season?
Keith Coffee: We just have a great bond throughout the team. Everyone is anxious for the season. We want to win the conference championship.
Alex Khvatov: Besides football, what other sports did you play in high school?
Keith Coffee: I played basketball. I also ran track. I did the 400m, 100m and the high jump.
Alex Khvatov: What positions did you play in high school?
Keith Coffee: I played CB, safety and receiver.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Keith Coffee: I lived in Georgia with my father during my senior year. After the season, I moved back to Florida with my mom. I had ETSU, Western Carolina, Albany and Wagner.
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at ETSU?
Keith Coffee: It was my first offer. It was the best decision for me. It is the only official visit that I was able to go to. The school wasn’t too big or too small. I saw myself having a future there. I can make myself better and the team better.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your overall career?
Keith Coffee: During my true freshman year, I played sparingly. I started a couple of games. I competed with the older guys at receiver. Freshman year, I played with an injury. I had a femur fracture. The pain came in around the following spring going into my sophomore year. I redshirted the following year because of the injury. As a redshirt sophomore, I was really happy to play the game again. I was very appreciative of my time. I became the starter. We won the SoCon championship. Junior year, it was a fun year. We had a new team. We had new QB’s. Before the season, I got injured. I played the whole season with a back fracture.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Keith Coffee: I can stop on a dime. I have good speed. I get the ball at the highest point and get yards after the catch. I have good footwork.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Keith Coffee: I need to get better overall. I need to watch more film. I want to get bigger, faster and stronger. I need to get my footwork cleaner and be more fluid with my routes.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Keith Coffee: Being the SoCon champs. Even though we tied for the conference lead, we were still champs. But I want more. This last season, I made it through the whole year with a back fracture. I am proud that I was able to play through the injury.
Alex Khvatov: What is the biggest lesson that you have taken away from your coaching staff?
Keith Coffee: Try to be as consistent as possible. Don’t focus on one play and move on to the next play. I am hard on myself.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Keith Coffee: My home team, the Miami Dolphins.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Keith Coffee: Randy Moss. I like to watch his highlights. Julio Jones, Davante Adams and Mohamed Sanu.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for this upcoming season?
Keith Coffee: WR Will Huzzie, OL Tre’mond Shorts, DE Olajuwon Pinkleton, QB Cade Weldon, DE/LB Blake Bockrath, QB Tyler Riddell, LB Ja’Varius Harrison, S Tyree Robinson, WR Isaiah Wilson, WR Desi Lester, and CB Karon Delince.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for a WR?
Keith Coffee: Hand-eye coordination. You have to have speed, footwork, and agility.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Keith Coffee: It is fun to score and to hit. It is fun to jump over people. It is fun to make plays.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Keith Coffee: I like to draw and paint.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Keith Coffee: I want to sell my artwork. I also want to join company’s advertisement team and be a creative director. On the side, I want to be an athletic trainer.
