Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Brian Foley: I am 6’4, roughly 300 and 5.28.
Alex Khvatov: How did you prepare for the 2020 season with no offseason training?
Brian Foley: My high school teammates were home. I trained with a center from Illinois and a center from Michigan. We all go to a trainer from our high school days. We lifted four times a week and went to a local field a couple of times a week. I am going to the gym now once it opened.
Alex Khvatov: What are your thoughts on the fall season being canceled in the Patriot League?
Brian Foley: I was really disappointed. Once the Ivy League canceled their season, we knew what was coming. They weren’t optimistic about having a season in the fall. They were open with us that we could get canceled. They prepared us for it.
Alex Khvatov: What are your future plans?
Brian Foley: I would like to pursue playing football at the next level. I want to have another year of college football.
Alex Khvatov: Besides football, what other sports did you play in high school?
Brian Foley: I grew up in the Chicago suburbs. I was a heavyweight wrestler. I wrestled for three years. I didn’t wrestle my senior year.
Alex Khvatov: What positions did you play in high school?
Brian Foley: I played everything on the O-line. I played C, OG and RT during my senior year. I also played defense during my senior year. I played NT in goal-line and on fourth downs.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Brian Foley: Bucknell was my first offer, SE Missouri State and Indiana State.
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at Holy Cross?
Brian Foley: They offered me in December of my senior year. I received a full scholarship. I liked the campus and the kids. I fell in love with the coaches.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your overall career?
Brian Foley: I played RT my freshman year. I played 50% of the snaps. I was 4-7 that year. Our coach got fired. The new coach switched me to LT the following year. We went 5-6, and were second in the conference. I earned first team all-conference and Hero Sports All-American. Junior year, we won the conference. I continued to play LT. We finished with a 7-6 record. We lost in the first round of the FCS playoffs to Monmouth.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Brian Foley: I am a physical player. I finish a lot of blocks, and I pride myself on it. When I get my hands on the opponent, I sustain blocks well.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Brian Foley: Definitely in pass blocking, I need to get out of my pass set a little bit faster. I need to be quicker on my first kick.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Brian Foley: A highlight last year was beating Georgetown. It was our senior day. We had a cool ceremony. We were able to raise the conference trophy at home. It was our last regular season game. I will never forget the day. We won 20-0. We dominated the whole time. It was our first conference championship.
Alex Khvatov: What is the biggest lesson that you have taken away from your coaching staff?
Brian Foley: Accountability. Do your one job on every play. We have been sending videos to our coaches while we have been home. We have been doing a good job with it.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Brian Foley: Bears fan. We certainly had a disappointing season this past year.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Brian Foley: Quenton Nelson from the Colts. I have family that went to Notre Dame. I was a fan of Notre Dame before I got to Holy Cross.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for this upcoming season?
Brian Foley: WR Tenio Ayeni, S Joe Lang, LB Jacob Dobbs, and WR Ayir Asante.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?
Brian Foley: Boston College DL Zach Allen. He was different than who I usually go up against. He was big, strong and physical.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for an OL?
Brian Foley: Being nasty. You need to finish blocks and do your assignment. You need to be tougher than the guy across from you.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Brian Foley: The fact you are there with 10 other people on offense. The brotherhood aspect. One man succeeds, and we all succeed.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Brian Foley: I like to golf. I have been a caddy for eight years. I like hanging out with friends and family and playing video games.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Brian Foley: I want to go into consulting or commercial real estate.
Alex Khvatov: What makes you unique?
Brian Foley: I do a lot of preparation for games. I spend a lot of time watching film by myself.
