Christopher Reiss: What are your measurements?

Trey Murray: 6’0, 198lbs.

Christopher Reiss: During COVID-19, what have you been doing this offseason to prepare for the upcoming season?

Trey Murray: I have been going to my trainers. Now we are back at Savannah State and working with the coaches and my other teammates.

Christopher Reiss: When breaking down your film, what should stand out?

Trey Murray: Pursuit of the ballcarrier. I am a leader on the defense and always talking to my teammates on their responsibility. My man to man coverage is very good.

Christopher Reiss: Coming out of high school, what schools showed interest in you?

Trey Murray: Auburn and USC both saw me play. But I went to Catawba on a full ride.   

Christopher Reiss: In high school, what other positions did you play besides defensive back?

Trey Murray: Punt return, kick return, and wide receiver.

Christopher Reiss: In high school, what other sports did you play besides football?

Trey Murray: Basketball and track. Events were 100 meters and the 4x400m, long, triple, and high jump.

Christopher Reiss: What are the expectations for Savannah State for this upcoming season?

Trey Murray: We want to dominate in 2020. That was the saying that coach came up with, and we as the players, we stand by it.

Christopher Reiss: Is there anyone on your team that we should keep our eye out for this season?

Trey Murray: Walter Yates, Chris Smith, and Ny’Em Bozeman. 

Christopher Reiss: How would you describe your overall career?

Trey Murray: I was playing as a true freshman and I got hurt, so I was able to get a medical redshirt freshman. I have been getting playing time after my redshirt freshman. I have been getting better and better over the years. Now it’s my job to show the scouts what I can do on the field.

Christopher Reiss: What is the highlight of your college football career?

Trey Murray: Most memorable play was against Winston. I forced a fumble and picked the ball up and scored as well.

Christopher Reiss: What are some strengths of your game?

Trey Murray: They have me playing nickel cornerback this season. I have been getting better ball skills and I attack the ball well. I have great coverage skills too. Coming from being a linebacker, I also have great blitzing skills.

Christopher Reiss: What are some assets of your game that you are trying to improve on?

Trey Murray: Working on my man coverage skills. Working on my steps and drops. Focusing on the keys that I need to see that the offense shows me.

Christopher Reiss: What do you enjoy most about football?

Trey Murray: When I am out there on the field, all my stress goes away. I also love the fans that come and support us every game.

Christopher Reiss: What are you majoring in?

Trey Murray: Business major.

Christopher Reiss: What does life after football look like for you?

Trey Murray: NFL is the main goal, but if that doesn’t happen I want to help take over my dad’s car business. I started my own clothing line company that I want to take to the next level.

Christopher Reiss: What or who motivates you?

Trey Murray: First, I would say God has been the biggest impact that has influenced my life because he has brought me up in a praying family that believes in him strongly and taught me too as well. Also another big influence on my life was my head coach Shawn Quinn for giving me my shot at Savannah State. I saw how he treated his players, and how tries to get to know each one of his players, and how he is strict about his business when it’s time.

Christopher Reiss: Is there a player in the NFL that you look up to?

Trey Murray: Tyrann Mathieu. I try to play like him.

Christopher Reiss: What is your favorite NFL team?

Trey Murray: The Kansas City Chiefs.

Christopher Reiss: Who is your favorite football player of all-time?

Trey Murray: Ed Reed.  

Christopher Reiss: What are some hobbies of yours?

Trey Murray: I am a family man. I love spending time with them. I like going to the beach.

Christopher Reiss: On game day, who is your go-to artist?

Trey Murray: Lil Baby.
