Christopher Reiss: What are your measurements?
Gerron Fryer: 6’3, 203lbs.
Christopher Reiss: During COVID-19, what have you been doing this offseason to prepare for the upcoming season?
Gerron Fryer: I just do home body workouts. I bought a cheap weight bench for my house. I have been able to run around the neighborhood to stay in shape.
Christopher Reiss: When breaking down your film, what should stand out?
Gerron Fryer: What will stick out is my physicality and how I never give up on a play.
Christopher Reiss: Coming out of high school, what schools show interest in you?
Gerron Fryer: OU, and Robert Morris. I had a bunch of JUCO and D-II schools.
Christopher Reiss: In high school, what other positions did you play besides defensive back?
Gerron Fryer: Wide receiver, linebacker, strong safety, slot, and running back.
Christopher Reiss: In high school, what other sports did you play besides football?
Gerron Fryer: Basketball and track.
Christopher Reiss: What are the expectations for your team for this upcoming season?
Gerron Fryer: We want to make it to the playoffs and win our conference. I think this year is the year we win the conference.
Christopher Reiss: Is there anyone at University of Charleston that we should keep our eye out for this season?
Gerron Fryer: S Quinard Thomas, DL Kenny Randall, WR Mike Strachan, and RB Tyreik McAllister.
Christopher Reiss: How would you describe your overall career?
Gerron Fryer: Up and downs. I have had two major injuries that have stopped me throughout my career, but I am done for a breakout season this year.
Christopher Reiss: What is the highlight of your college football career?
Gerron Fryer: It was against West Virginia. I was playing wide recover at the time. I had a really good game. It was my breakout game for me. I had some nice blocks and some really good catches. I had over 100 receiving yards.
Christopher Reiss: What are some strengths of your game?
Gerron Fryer: I am a very physical player. Defensive backs are afraid to press me because of my size. I can catch everything thrown to me. Strong hands I have, you can’t take that ball away from me.
Christopher Reiss: What are some assets of your game that you are trying to improve on?
Gerron Fryer: Route running, I want perfect it. On defense, I want to get better on my route recognition.
Christopher Reiss: What do you enjoy most about football?
Gerron Fryer: The brotherhood that you get with your teammates and coaches.
Christopher Reiss: What are you majoring in?
Gerron Fryer: I received my degree in business administration.
Christopher Reiss: What does life after football look like for you?
Gerron Fryer: My dream job is still playing football, but if not then hopefully being a chief investment officer.
Christopher Reiss: What or who motivates you?
Gerron Fryer: What motivates me to work hard is that I want to be great at whatever I’m doing. No matter what I’m doing, I want to be the best at it.
Christopher Reiss: Is there a player in the NFL that you look up to?
Gerron Fryer: If I could compare myself to someone in the league it would be Jalen Ramsey.
Christopher Reiss: What is your favorite football team?
Gerron Fryer: Cleveland Browns.
Christopher Reiss: Who is your favorite football player of all-time?
Gerron Fryer: Deion Sanders.
Christopher Reiss: What are some hobbies of yours?
Gerron Fryer: The only two hobbies I have really are playing basketball and video games.
Christopher Reiss: On game day, who is your go-to artist?
Gerron Fryer: My top 3: Chief Keef, Babyface Ray, and Pop Smoke.
