WR Caleb Eagans Draft Journal #4
I’ve learned a lot since being here at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I can feel myself getting back in the groove of things and learning the game better each day. I’m surrounded by a great coaching staff who has Championship experiences. I knew what to expect coming to a tradition of winning like UMHB, that’s what I wanted. There are a lot of high expectations not only for myself, but for other players, coaches, and the program in general. There have been many great players who have played at UMHB. Many have played professional ball as well or have gotten the opportunity. Previous players and coaches here at UMHB have built the legacy and tradition of what it means to be a Crusader, I’m just trying to be able to help keep the tradition going and help win Championships. Even though we aren’t playing any games right now due to Covid-19, I’m grateful to be at this program right now because it has taught me to have patience and have more humility. Both of which will help me off of the football field as well. As far as practices been going, I feel like I’m adjusting and getting in the swing of things. I get frustrated at times because I’m the type of person who wants to learn everything all at once or get it right the first time. I’m getting more confident with myself and this team every day. I believe coming up in the spring and next fall we will accomplish something very special. This team has a lot of talent, but it is more than just that. We all want to win, and we are close off the field. From my experiences and doing a lot of reading on some of the greatest athletes to ever play their sport, I’ve learned the best teams have the closest relationships. Winning is in the details which is something our coaches always address. There are a lot of little things that our coaches make sure we do that keeps us accountable even off of the football field. I have a good feeling about our season and this team, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.
