Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Tyler Coyle: 6’0 ¾, 206 pounds.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you decide to enter the 2021 NFL Draft?
Tyler Coyle: I felt like it was my time. All of my life, I wanted to hear my name called during the NFL Draft. It is the perfect time.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training?
Tyler Coyle: Boost Performance in Nashville, Tennessee. I am going on my third week here.
Alex Khvatov: You had the opportunity to play at the Tropical Bowl all-star game. What was that experience like?
Tyler Coyle: It was a great experience. I learned as much as I could during the weekend. It should boost my draft stock.
Alex Khvatov: You were named the overall MVP during the Tropical Bowl game. What did that accomplishment mean to you?
Tyler Coyle: It was definitely a great honor. I definitely worked for it. It was a great all-around weekend for me during these crazy times.
Alex Khvatov: Who was the best player that you faced during that all-star weekend?
Tyler Coyle: I would have to say WR Keyion Dixon from my team and WR Myron Mitchell from UAB. He was from the other team. He was a quick guy.
Alex Khvatov: Besides football, what other sports did you play in high school?
Tyler Coyle: I ran track. I ran 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, long jump and high jump. I also played basketball for three years.
Alex Khvatov: What positions did you play in high school?
Tyler Coyle: During my freshman year, I was a QB. The coaches thought that I was too athletic, so they moved me to safety and WR.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Tyler Coyle: I was under recruited, but it didn’t stop my story. I had offers from Umass, Rhode Island, and Temple. I went to the bigger camps like Penn State, West Virginia, and Virginia. I ran a 4.4 in camp, but that didn’t help me get the bigger offers.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you choose UConn?
Tyler Coyle: I ultimately went to Uconn. I wanted to be the hometown hero kind of a guy.
Alex Khvatov: How would you sum up your overall career with the Huskies?
Tyler Coyle: It didn’t go as I planned. I made a name for myself based off my effort in games. I was a team captain in 2019. I started for three seasons. As a true freshman, I played corner, but then they moved me to safety when the new staff came in.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you transfer to Purdue for your final season?
Tyler Coyle: I wanted to showcase my talent in the Big 10, but Covid messed it up a little. I was in the transfer portal before Covid hit. Anthony Poindexter and Bob Diaco were coaches at Purdue. I knew them because they recruited me at Uconn. I was comfortable with them.
Alex Khvatov: Tell us about this 2020 season with the Boilermakers.
Tyler Coyle: It was a weird season. I got there on June 2nd. We had summer workouts. Then we found out that the season would be canceled. Two weeks later, the season was back on. I missed the first two games. The first week, I went home for the birth of my daughter. Then during the second week, I had a mid-foot sprain. We went 2-4 during the season. I played in the last four games.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Tyler Coyle: I bring toughness. I am a physical player who has the speed and versatility to play more than one position. I want to compete. Competition brings the best out of me.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Tyler Coyle: Short area quickness and getting in and out of breaks better.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Tyler Coyle: Being the first generation college graduate in my family. It was big for me to graduate. I set the standard.
Alex Khvatov: Is there an NFL DB that you aspire to play like?
Tyler Coyle: I try to watch as much Jamal Adams as possible. I have his body frame and I try to mimic his style of play.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye out for next season?
Tyler Coyle: S/hybrid LB Jalen Graham, LB Jalen Alexander, receiver David Bell and DB Cam Allen.
Alex Khvatov: What was it like to face off against WR’s David Bell and Rondale Moore during practice every day?
Tyler Coyle: I lined up against Rondale a couple of times. The competition aspect brings a lot out of me. I loved going against Rondale. He is one of the reasons I committed to Purdue. You want to go against the best.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for a DB?
Tyler Coyle: Next play mentality. You will mess up from time to time. You need to shake it off and you have to stay focused. The big play can happen next.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Tyler Coyle: The life lessons it teaches us. You work hard. It teaches you accountability. I am thankful for all of these moments that playing football has provided me with.
Alex Khvatov: How has fatherhood changed your life?
Tyler Coyle: It changed my life a lot. I can’t do what I used to do. She is my why. I am out here doing the work because of her. I want to make it to the NFL.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Tyler Coyle: I am a father. I don’t do much. I set an example for my daughter. I hang out with my girlfriend, my family and my daughter. I also watch Netflix.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Tyler Coyle: I got my degree in economics. I probably want to be a stock broker and manage my money wisely.
Alex Khvatov: What makes you unique?
Tyler Coyle: My body type, how long and tall I am. I doubt most players my size can move like me. I am 6’1, long and athletic. I was No.1 in the entire US in the high jump for about a month. I jumped 6’10 in the high jump during my senior year during the indoor competition. I won state in 100m, 200m, high jump and 4x100m.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to show NFL teams during the Hula Bowl all-star game?
Tyler Coyle: I am looking to learn during the week. I am going to compete. I love the aspect of competing. I am ready to work.

Tyler Coyle: Hard working, competitive, determined, physical and inspiring.
