QB Feleipe Franks (Arkansas) Senior Bowl Interview

Feleipe Franks – Quarterback – Arkansas

Ed Hunt: What was it like leading the Arkansas team this year?

Feleipe Franks: It was good. I thought it worked out for the best. I wouldn’t trade my experience for the world. It was a fun opportunity. It was awesome to go out there.

Ed Hunt: What do you want to show scouts in Mobile?

Feleipe Franks: I think it’s just about being yourself. Showing how you separate yourself. Just having a chip on your shoulder. Just learn really. Surrounded to by a lot of great competition.

Ed Hunt: Do you feel like you can outplay Kyle Trask when given a second chance?

Feleipe Franks: That’s a blunt question. I’m going to give you a formal answer. We were both competitive when were there at Florida. I don’t question God’s plan. Being able to mature. I don’t think I would change anything.

Ed Hunt: What is your pathway to being a starting QB in the NFL?

Feleipe Franks: I think it’s just about keeping a chip on your shoulder. Never let the moment get too big and just going out there and performing.

Ed Hunt: What is something you are going to work on in practice?

Feleipe Franks: I try to take 1-2 things and go out there and work on. I think that will help me in the long run and it translates that to the game as well. And focus on them in practice.

Ed Hunt: Have you developed a routine for game preparation?

Feleipe Franks: I have. I try to take being ahead. It starts in practice. Building those players’ trust in you. I try to keep it really simple. That’s how I like to live.

Ed Hunt: Who is a quarterback you watch film on?

Feleipe Franks: I would say I like a bunch. Josh Allen. I like to take bits and pieces from everybody. Drew Brees and Tom Brady. Being able to marry your game and applying it to your own player.

Ed Hunt: What did Dan Mullen teach you at Florida?

Feleipe Franks: He taught me a bunch. Being a big-time quarterback, I’ve had a lot of great coaches along the way. I apply some of the things he taught me. I love to learn and soak it in like a sponge.

Ed Hunt: What did Sam Pittman teach you the most?

Feleipe Franks: He’s a great guy. How to be a great person. He is so down to earth. Being a leader. I think voach Pittman is a great guy. It was an awesome opportunity. He is a guy you could talk to about anything.

Ed Hunt: Are you looking forward to running a pro-style offense?

Feleipe Franks: I think I’ve been a part of it. I’ve been a part of a bunch of different offenses. I think just being versatile in that sense as a quarterback has helped me.

Ed Hunt: What is the biggest adjustment this new NFL offense that you are running?

Feleipe Franks: Getting a hold of play calls. We have a limited amount of time to learn it. We don’t have school anymore. And keep learning. Football is football. Put in the effort is the challenging part.

Ed Hunt: Where are you training for the NFL draft?

Feleipe Franks: In Carlsbad, CA.

Ed Hunt: What are your strengths?

Feleipe Franks: Being able to be a leader and having the trust of the guys around me. The guys have that in you. Putting things together. I think that would be one of the strengths other than throwing the ball and letting it rip.

Ed Hunt: What underclassmen should we look out for on the Arkansas team?

Feleipe Franks: WR’s Mike Woods and Treylon Burks. I think the offensive line is growing. All those guys are coming back. I like being able to watch game tape. Those are some of the players I like being around.

Ed Hunt: What do you enjoy most about football?

Feleipe Franks: Everything about it. The competitiveness, and the grind. I love the game. The camaraderie of playing on a team. It’s unlike any other sport.

Ed Hunt: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Feleipe Franks: I really want to be a player development guy. I like being a part of helping guys off the field as well. Being able to help players and influence them in their personal lives as well.
