Underrated Prospects (2021 NFL Draft)

2021 Underrated Prospects

WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (USC)

He is a good athlete, strong and quick.  He displays good hands and is a precise route runner.  Best fit would be as a slot WR at the next level.  He might be the most underrated offensive player in this entire draft.

WR Cade Johnson (South Dakota State)

Another offensive player from South Dakota State who is following in the footsteps of Dallas Goedert.  He has terrific hands, smooth route runner and displays outstanding short area quickness.  Slot WR at the next level.

RB Michael Carter (North Carolina)

He is a very versatile back.  He displays outstanding acceleration in the open field and can make defenders miss.  He also shows the ability to break tackles on film.  He is an excellent receiver out of the backfield and can help as a return specialist.

OT Larry Borom (Missouri)

He is a RT who took a huge step forward in 2020.  He excelled in pass protection.  He displays nimble feet, shows good balance and moves well laterally.  Betting on his upside, and his best football is still ahead of him.

OG Aaron Banks (Notre Dame)

He possesses good size and strength for the position.  He is a very good run blocker.  He displays excellent hand placement and once he locks on, defenders have a tough time disengaging from his grasp.

C Jimmy Morrissey (Pittsburgh)

He went from being a walk-on to a four-year starter for the Panthers.  He shows great technique.  Quick feet, gets to the second level with ease, excellent knee bender and good hand placement.  Tough player who was a two-time team captain.

DE Patrick Jones II (Pittsburgh)

He is an all-around DE with good size and long arms.  He holds his ground well at the POA and excels against the run.  Jones has an outstanding bull rush move and knows how to use his hands.

DE Elerson Smith (Northern Iowa)

He had an outstanding 2019 season.  He makes a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage.  Good frame, long arms and holds his ground well at the POA.  He is also a quick twitch athlete with an excellent inside move.

DT Alim McNeill (NC State)

He is a very strong NT who takes on double teams.  He can also disengage from blockers quickly.  He can cause havoc in the backfield and get after the QB as well.  He reminds me of Packers Kenny Clark.

LB Quincy Roche (Miami, FL)

Roche has been a disruptive pass rusher during his time at Temple and Miami, FL.  He displays a variety of pass rush moves.  He has heavy hands, shows quickness off the edge, has a good inside move and an impressive bull rush move.

CB Elijah Molden (Washington)

Versatile DB who projects as a nickel corner at the next level.  He is very instinctive and has a great football IQ, almost like a coach out there.  He is always around the ball.  Fluid hips and shows good closing speed.

S Talanoa Hufanga (USC)

He is best as an in-box safety.  He is a playmaker.  Versatile, instinctive, very good blitzer and a good run defender.  He had four INT’s in a shortened season in 2020.  I see shades of Troy Polamalu when I watch him play.
