Best Day Two Picks - NFL Draft Blitz

Best Day Two Picks

BEST PICKS – Day Two (2021 NFL Draft)

By: Alex Khvatov

35th Overall Pick RB Javonte Williams (UNC) – Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos traded up five spots in the second round to select UNC RB Javonte Williams.  He is a physical back who displays tremendous balance and good vision.  He bounces off defenders with regularity and has low tread on his tires.  He is also a good receiver out of the backfield.

38th Overall Pick DL Christian Barmore (Alabama) – New England Patriots

Another Alabama player that gets drafted by the Patriots.  New England had to give up a second round pick and two fourth round picks in order to make this move.  Barmore has good size, athleticism and quickness.  A disruptive pass rusher who is versatile enough to play different positions on the defensive line.  He was a top 15 player on my board.

43rd Overall Pick S Trevon Moehrig (TCU) – Las Vegas Raiders

My number one safety in this draft.  I criticized Raiders first round selection, but they bounced back and got a steal with Moehrig.  He is an instinctive all-around safety.  He is a reliable tackler in the open field and shows good ball skills.

47th Overall Pick CB Asante Samuel Jr. (Florida State) – Los Angeles Chargers

The only knock on Samuel Jr. is his size.  He has everything else you are looking for in a corner.  He has good speed, instinctive, lightning quick feet with impressive COD skills.  He is also good in run support.

50th Overall Pick DE/OLB Azeez Ojulari (Georgia) – NY Giants

Ojulari slipped on draft day, but the Giants got themselves a steal in the second round.  He is a relentless pass rusher with long arms and a quick first step.  He is only a redshirt sophomore, but he took over some games in 2020.

52nd Overall Pick LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (Notre Dame) – Cleveland Browns

He was my number one 4-3 OLB on the board.  Like many, I had a first round grade on him.  He has outstanding speed and is a violent hitter.  He also excels in coverage.  He can cover RB’s, TE’s and slot WR’s.  Should be a weapon for the Browns on the defensive side of the ball.

55th Overall Pick TE Pat Freiermuth (Penn St.) – Pittsburgh Steelers

If it wasn’t for his injury, Freiermuth would have been drafted at the end of the first round.  He displays terrific hands and is a good route runner.  He is physical and knows how to shield the defender away from the ball.  He will be a major red-zone target for the Steelers.

63rd Overall Pick C Creed Humphrey (Oklahoma) – Kansas City Chiefs

He has been a three-year starter for the Sooners.  He is a former wrestler who displays impressive strength.  He shows very good hand placement, is quick and can get to the second level with ease.  Will be a starter from day one.

72nd Overall Pick DT Alim McNeill (NC State) – Detroit Lions

He is a very strong DT with active hands who is able to disengage from blocks very quickly.  He is an outstanding run stopper who plays with good leverage.  He will regularly take on double teams.

100th Overall Pick CB Elijah Molden (Washington) – Tennessee Titans

This is a steal for the Titans.  Molden projects best as a slot corner at the next level.  He is an extremely instinctive and smart player with good closing speed.
