BEST PICKS – Day Three (2021 NFL Draft) - NFL Draft Blitz

BEST PICKS – Day Three (2021 NFL Draft)

107th Overall Pick (4th Round) RB Michael Carter (UNC) – NY Jets

Jets needed a RB who could help them in a number of ways in their new offensive scheme.  Carter is a versatile back with terrific hands, quickness and elusiveness in the open field.  He could also help in the return game.  A great value pick at the top of the fourth round.

112th Overall Pick (4th Round) WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (USC) – Detroit Lions

St. Brown was the fifth WR prospect in my rankings.  The Lions needed to find weapons for Goff.  He best profiles as a slot receiver at the next level.  He is an athletic WR with reliable hands.  He is very quick.  He is also a precise route runner.

116th Overall Pick (4th Round) OLB Elerson Smith (Northern Iowa) – NY Giants

My favorite small school prospect behind QB Trey Lance on the board.  He is an athletic player with a good frame and long arms.  He holds up well at the POA and has an impressive inside move.  He will play 3-4 OLB for the Giants.

180th Overall Pick (5th Round) S Talanoa Hufanga (USC) – San Francisco 49ers

He was the No.1 SS on my board.  I had a second round grade on him, and the Niners drafted him in the fifth round.  He slipped because he ran in the 4.6’s, but he is an athletic safety with very good instincts.  He flies all over the field.  He excels as a run defender and does a good job as a blitzer.

216th Overall Pick (6th Round) OLB Quincy Roche (Miami, FL) – Pittsburgh Steelers

Roche was my top 50 player on the board.  I always value guys that can get after the QB.  He shows heavy hands, has an impressive bull rush and displays quickness off the snap.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he outplays Alex Highsmith in training camp and claims the starting job.

230th Overall Pick (7th Round) C Jimmy Morrissey (Pitt) – Las Vegas Raiders

One of my favorite interior linemen in this entire draft.  He is very technically sound, smart and tough.  He can easily get out to the second level.  A fantastic pick for the Raiders in the seventh round.
