WR Caleb Eagans Journal Entry #1 - NFL Draft Blitz

WR Caleb Eagans Journal Entry #1

East Texas Baptist University

I’m excited to be finishing my college football career at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas this fall. I’m blessed to be able to be in this position and tell a bit of my journey through these journal entries. I chose East Texas Baptist to end college because I am born and raised in East Texas. I was born in Palestine, Texas and raised in Jewett, Texas and have a lot of family in the area. When I visited the school, I felt spiritually it was where God wanted me to be. I even canceled future visits I had planned. The coaching staff at ETBU does a great job with playing to their strengths and using talent. Over the years and this past spring, the offensive efficiency has been the best. It comes down to a deal of trust, I trust Coach Mayper and Coach Wilson and how they handle this offense. I like the offensive situation and the guys they have taking snaps from center. I feel like in this offense, I could be used in a multiple of ways and be a threat in the return game. I’m ready to get going this fall and looking forward to what we could accomplish as a team. I honestly feel we could have one of the best seasons the program has had. I’m blessed and humbled to have NFL scouts and the attention from the NFL, but my main focus this season is to become the best football player and teammate I can possibly be. I have personal goals but the goals we have as a team comes first. There are some young guys on the team that I feel like I could help lead and really get them going. There is a lot of young talent on this team especially on defense. Older guys and leaders on the team like Justice Henson and KJ Kelly will contribute to our team success. That will help a lot with them being on the defensive side of the ball. It takes everyone to be a great team, one or two people can make an impact, but it takes a collective group of guys to have the same mindset and push each other to make everyone else compete at a high level. I’m thankful to NFL Draft Blitz to keep track of my journey and I’m blessed to have this opportunity from Coach Mayper to represent his program and East Texas Baptist University.
