Alex Khvatov: What is your height, weight and your
current 40 Time?
Boris Lee: I am
6’0, 245 pounds and I run a 4.6 forty.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you choose Troy coming out of
high school?
Boris Lee: Well
coming out of high school, I told myself that I would sign
with the first school that would offer me a scholarship.
Troy was the school to offer me first. I came for a visit
and I fell in love with the place, the coaches and the
staff. I felt comfortable here.
Alex Khvatov: You exploded onto the scene as a true
freshman for Troy, what has this university meant to you
personally?
Boris Lee: It
means a lot to me. This university gave me an opportunity.
When I came in as a freshman and started. That meant a lot
to me. They believed in my ability to go out there and
contribute.
Alex Khvatov: Describe your junior season for us.
Boris Lee: It
was exciting. We won a lot of games. We won a lot of home
games. Overall team wise, we did great. We accomplished a
lot of goals. I was able to lead the team in a lot of
stats. It meant a lot to me. Also we were able to go to
the Bowl game.
Alex Khvatov: You led the team in tackles last
season, what can we expect from you this year?
Boris Lee: Of
course, I have higher goals than what I accomplished last
season. I have set my bar pretty high.
Alex Khvatov: What can we expect from Troy this
season?
Boris Lee: You
can expect an exciting defense, where we will always give it
100%. We will pursue the ball on every play, make plays and
look out for each other. When we line up, it is like going
to war with us. We are like that.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career
thus far?
Boris Lee: I
would have to go back to my freshman year. I caught an
interception. I was running it back and got knocked out by
an opposing player at the one yard line. That was a
highlight for me. I felt like I am here and that I have
arrived. I felt like I belonged after that. I was
comfortable to take my game to the next level.
Alex Khvatov: What separates you from all of the
other LB's in the country?
Boris Lee:
Honestly, I think what separates me would be my ability to
cover and run with receivers. I feel that I can run with
the fastest receivers out there and cover them like a person
in the secondary.
Alex Khvatov: Boris, what does it take to be a
leader?
Boris Lee: You
have to work and handle yourself on and off-the-field. You
have to know that everyone is watching. Your teammates look
up to you and see how you handle yourself in different
situations. The young guys look at everything you do. You
may not know it, but they are watching. You have to set an
example every day.
Alex Khvatov: What do you consider your strengths as
a player?
Boris Lee: I
have already said that my coverage ability. I am a pretty
good sideline to sideline player. I get to the ball
carrier. I get off blocks. I am a ball hawk.
Alex Khvatov: What is the one area of your game
that you need to improve upon?
Boris Lee:
Sometimes I need to read and react to a play a lot
quicker. I can be too aggressive at times on run plays and
get fooled on play-action.
Alex Khvatov: Describe your teammates Bear Woods
and Brandon Lang on and off-the field.
Boris Lee: Bear
Woods is like my other half. He is my twin brother. He is
a great guy. He is a good friend. Brandon Lang is also a
great guy off the field. They carry themselves very well.
I know when I need anything, I can call them and they will
be there for me. I am very honored to be their friend and
their teammate.
Alex Khvatov: Which underclassmen on your team
should we keep an eye on this season?
Boris Lee: CB
Brandon Lucas and DL Eugene Kinlaw.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite player?
Boris Lee:
Terrell Owens is my favorite player. We all know that he
gets himself in trouble with the comments that he makes
off-the-field. But this guy shows up every week. He does
it every week. He backs up his talk. His playing ability
is amazing. He has overcome a lot in his career especially
with everything that has been said about him in the media.
He performs and I respect him for that. I have always
dreamed about being a receiver. I was a receiver in high
school, but I became a LB here at Troy.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Boris Lee: The
49ers. Well when I was young, I watched when they played in
the Super Bowl in 93 or 94 season against the Chargers.
That was a great team with Steve Young and Jerry Rice.
Alex Khvatov: Are the 49ers a playoff team this
season?
Boris Lee: They
will be a tough team this season. I think that they are a
playoff team.
Alex Khvatov: What do you think of the whole Michael
Crabtree situation?
Boris Lee: I
don’t know him personally, so I can’t judge him. I have no
comment on it. It’s a shame about the whole situation with
him holding out. I know personally that I love this game,
and money is not important to me.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Boris Lee: I am
a big brother. I mentor and help out kids. I lift
weights. I like to catch a movie. Most of the time, I sit
around and watch TV. I am a really low key guy.
Alex Khvatov: What do you plan to do with your life
after your football career is over?
Boris Lee: I
also wanted to go to Canada. Hopefully I go to Canada after
my long career in the NFL is over. I plan on helping kids
around my hometown. I want to open up a Boys and Girls Club
someday. I love kids.
