Alex Khvatov:
What is your exact height and weight?
Dann O’Neill:
I believe that I am 6’7 and 315.
Alex Khvatov:
Describe your teammate QB Alex Carder.
Dann O’Neill:
He is a great guy. He is a very good athlete.
He can run, throw and jump through hoops.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your strengths?
Dann O’Neill:
Run blocking is my number one. I just get in
there and grind it out. I am a big fan of the
run situation.
Alex Khvatov:
What areas of your game are you trying to
improve upon this week?
Dann O’Neill:
They had me working at left tackle today. I
definitely need to work on the fundamentals on
the left side. The right side is pretty solid
for me. I am just trying to get more versatile
this week.
Alex Khvatov:
How did your first practice go at the 2013
Shrine Game?
Dann O’Neill:
It is hot out here. But I like the intensity.
We had guys going 100%. I like the speed.
Alex Khvatov:
What can we expect from you the rest of the
week?
Dann O’Neill:
I am expecting improvement on the left side. I
am looking to getting the starting nod.
Alex Khvatov:
Describe briefly your career at Western
Michigan.
Dann O’Neill:
I think that I had a very good career. I got
First Team All-MAC from Phil Steele
publications. I started three years. I had a
good career. I even scored a TD this year.
Technically, it wasn’t a reception because I was
behind the quarterback. Alex just flipped it to
me when he was getting tackled. It was on
Senior Day. But they called it back because we
only had five guys on the line of scrimmage. It
was a single most disappointing moment of my
career.
Alex Khvatov:
Tell us about your senior season.
Dann O’Neill:
Individually, I had a good season. It was
disappointing from a team perspective. You
don’t want to go 4-8 especially during your
senior season. Alex (Carder) got hurt. You
shouldn’t rely on just one player, but we have
always relied on him very heavily. I had the
most fun blocking for Alex.
Alex Khvatov:
Where are you training for the NFL Draft?
Dann O’Neill:
I am based in Scottsdale, Arizona area. It is
Pro Edge Performance Training facility. I am
training with Derek Kennard. His brother
actually plays at USC. My personal coach is Tom
Elsworth. He is my nutritionist and he makes
sure that I am all stretched out. The set up
that they have over there is extensive. They
have all types of connection around the Phoenix
area. They can get whatever you need. They
really take care of the guys.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your hobbies?
Dann O’Neill:
I read a lot. I also like writing. Poetry is a
hobby of mine. Most people make fun of me for
that. I majored in creative writing at school.
Alex Khvatov:
What is your favorite book?
Dann O’Neill:
I have a favorite writer. Hemingway is my
favorite.
Alex Khvatov:
What five words best describe you?
Dann O’Neill:
Eccentric, energetic, humorous, effort and
heart.
