Alex Khvatov:
Tell me about your 2013 East/West Shrine Game
experience.
Duke Williams:
It has been a wonderful experience. It has been
a great opportunity to be here. I am blessed to
be here with all of these great athletes. It is
a great thing when you are able to showcase your
talents in front of scouts. It is a once in a
lifetime opportunity. I like the experience.
Tampa is a great city. I like the weather. It
is kind of like a vacation, but at the same time
you have to work hard.
Alex Khvatov:
What has been the most memorable moment during
this week?
Duke Williams:
Actually, it has been just meeting all of the
guys. They are all from different parts of the
country. You talk to them about their game and
about their scheme. They are a lot of good guys
here. That has been the best experience so
far.
Alex Khvatov:
Which players have you bonded with?
Duke Williams:
Safety Shamarko (Thomas) from Syracuse. We are
good friends now. Bradley McDougald (safety
from Kansas). The safety from Central Michigan
(Jahleel Addae). We have been hanging out a
lot. We have been sharing each other’s
thoughts. It has been a good experience.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your strengths?
Duke Williams:
I think that I am a complete safety. I think
that I can play man-to-man coverage. I think
that I have a complete game. I am a very
physical player. I like to come down and fill
the lane.
Alex Khvatov:
You had a great practice on Tuesday, what was
the difference for you out there?
Duke Williams:
I like press coverage. I like to get physical.
We did that on that day. Today, we played off
coverage. It was a little more difficult
getting a read on the receivers. I was able to
get better. I like to come up and press.
Alex Khvatov:
What areas of your game have you made the
biggest improvements this week?
Duke Williams:
I learned the cover 3 scheme. In college, I
really didn’t play the deep post. But out here,
I did that. I have a great coach in Marcus. It
has been a great learning experience. He is
teaching the safeties how to read their keys.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your hobbies?
Duke Williams:
I like to hang out with my family. I like to
play video games.
Alex Khvatov:

Duke Williams:
I will start with off-the-field. Outside of
football, I am a man of God. I like to spend
time with my family and friends. On the
football field, I like to get physical. I like
to hit. I bring the wood. That is my style of
football.
