Alex Khvatov: What are your
measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Shay Hodge:
I am 6'2", 210 pounds and I didn't run since my freshman
year. I don't know what my forty time is right now.
Alex Khvatov:
Coming out of high school, what teams showed interest in
you?
Shay Hodge:
Mississippi State, Iowa State, Southern Miss and Ole
Miss.
Alex Khvatov:
What made you choose Ole Miss?
Shay Hodge:
It was close to home. I liked the coach. My mentor went
here, so I wanted to follow in his footsteps.
Alex Khvatov:
Describe your head coach Houston Nutt who has done a
good job transforming the football program so far.
Shay Hodge:
He is fun to be around. He is a player's coach. He makes
you like him. He runs the right plays. He knows how to
motivate you.
Alex Khvatov:
You were undefeated up until that Thursday night game
against the Gamecocks, how tough was that loss?
Shay Hodge: It
hit us hard. It brought us back down to reality. We
realized that we need to work a lot harder to be a
better team.
Alex Khvatov:
You suffered another loss against Alabama, how tough is
their defense?
Shay Hodge:
Their defense is really tough. It is the best defense
that we have faced this season. It reminds me a lot of
the Florida's defense from last year. Their secondary
gets their hands up. Rolando McClain is a very good
player. It is a nice defense.
Alex Khvatov:
Who is the toughest team in the SEC?
Shay Hodge:
It looks like Florida and Alabama. They are the two best
teams.
Alex Khvatov:
What can we expect from the team the rest of the way?
Shay Hodge:
We are going to get it going on offense. Get back to
what we do best. Our defense is better. That is a top 10
defense. We have to get it clicking on offense again. We
need to play hard.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your strengths on the football field?
Shay Hodge:
Route running, catching the ball with my hands and
jumping.
Alex Khvatov:
What areas of your game do you need to improve upon?
Shay Hodge:
Press coverage, blocking and basically improving my
effort at times.
Alex Khvatov:
Who is the one NFL player that you would compare your
game to?
Shay Hodge:
I would like to say Brandon Marshall. We do some of the
same things. He is just more physical than me.
Alex Khvatov:
What is the highlight of your football career up to this
point?
Shay Hodge:
86-yard touchdown against Florida.
Alex Khvatov:
Who is the toughest opposing player that you have faced
during your career?
Shay Hodge: I mean, Chris Houston was the best corner
when I was a freshman.
Alex Khvatov:
What is your favorite NFL team?
Shay Hodge:
The Colts with Peyton Manning, Harrison and Wayne. I
always liked them.
Alex Khvatov:
Who is your favorite NFL player?
Shay Hodge:
I like both Brandon Marshall and Larry Fitzgerald.
Alex Khvatov:
Tell me about your teammate, junior QB Jevan Snead.
Shay Hodge:
He is very likeable. He keeps everybody pepped up. He
takes it hard if he makes a mistake. But he understands
his mistakes. He is smart. He was phenomenal in the
second half of last year. He should bounce back.
Alex Khvatov:
You just a had big game against Vanderbilt, what can we
expect from your the rest of the season?
Shay Hodge:
I am going to play harder. I will make every catch that
is thrown my way. We should overcome these offensive
woes and put more points on the board. I will work hard
and make every catch count.
Alex Khvatov:
Which underclassman on your team should we keep an eye
on in the future?
Shay Hodge:
#11 Pat Patterson. He has a great mentality. He can run.
He wants to knock you out like a LB. He has big hands.
He can jump. He runs good routes. He is just one of
those guys who could turn out to be a big time player.
Alex Khvatov:
What do you want to do with your life after your
football career is over?
Shay Hodge:
I want to be an ESPN analyst or a coach.
Alex Khvatov:
Shay, what makes you unique?
Shay Hodge:
I guess, I am playful. I make everyone laugh.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your hobbies?
Shay Hodge:
I play basketball and baseball.
Alex Khvatov:
Finish the sentence, Shay Hodge is ....
Shay Hodge:
A guy that will work hard and achieve all of his goals.
I want to become a better player and the best person.
