Alex Khvatov:
Tell us about your experience at the Shrine
Game.
Zach Sudfeld:
It is great to be out here. I am playing
against some of the best college football
players in the nation. I am learning new
techniques and little intricacies of the game
from NFL coaches. It is really exciting.
Alex Khvatov:
What has been the most memorable moment during
this week?
Zach Sudfeld:
The most memorable moment was visiting the kids
at the hospital the first day. This is what it
is all about. We might be here to showcase our
ability, but at the end of the day the slogan is
“more than just a game.”
Alex Khvatov:
Where have you made the biggest improvement?
Zach Sudfeld:
I changed my stance a lot during the first
practice. I have learned to come back to the
ball. I have improved in my positioning,
footwork and all of the little things. It is
great to be working with NFL coaches that know
what it takes to make it at the next level.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your strengths?
Zach Sudfeld:
My route running and catching the ball. I know
how to use size to my advantage.
Alex Khvatov:
You had a breakout senior season, what was the
difference for you this year?
Zach Sudfeld:
I was healthy. Coming into college, I was very
underdeveloped. I was more of a basketball
player and had a basketball body. I was always
able to catch the ball. I stayed healthy. This
was a good year for me.
Alex Khvatov:
Which players have you bonded with here?
Zach Sudfeld:
I am sharing a room with Matt Scott. It is
funny. They beat us in the bowl game. It was
kind of awkward the first couple of days. He is
a great guy. Actually I have bonded with all of
the QBs. I am a smart TE and I want to get in
good with all of the QB’s.
Alex Khvatov:
Where are you training for the NFL Draft?
Zach Sudfeld:
I am training at Bradenton, Florida at Athletic
Edge with Mike Goff. It is a great place. I am
out there training with C Mike (Christine
Michael) who is a running back from Texas A&M
and Jahleel Addae (safety from Central
Michigan).
Alex Khvatov:
Who is the best defensive back at this game?
Zach Sudfeld:
I am going to shout out Duke (Williams) from
Nevada. He has been doing a great job.
Linebacker #47 (A.J. Klein) has been really
good. There are a lot of really good
linebackers and DB’s. I am playing against some
excellent players this week.
Alex Khvatov:
What type of feedback have you received from
scouts and coaches?
Zach Sudfeld:
It has been pretty good. I have been able to
run some routes and get down the seam. I
definitely need to improve at the point of
attack as far as run blocking goes. So far, it
has been a very positive week.
Alex Khvatov:
Finish the sentence, Zach Sudfeld is….
Zach Sudfeld:
As a football player, I consider myself a
leader. I lead more by example. I am
definitely more focused when I am on the field.
Off-the-field, I am a laid back guy and try to
enjoy it as much as I can.
