Recapping Day Three of Senior Bowl practices
North Team
QB Josh Allen (Wyoming)
Allen put together his best practice on Thursday. It wasn’t a great day, but he showed more consistency. He showed the ability to fit the ball into a tight spot. He made better decisions. He still needs to clean up his footwork. His tape is underwhelming, but he will get drafted a lot higher than he should based on his physical tools.
QB Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma)
He put together his best practice on Thursday. He was the most consistent QB out here in Mobile. He was vocal and took charge of the two-minute drill offense. He showed good ball placement in the red zone. He was able to extend the play and was accurate on short and intermediate throws. His footwork has improved.
WR Cedrick Wilson (Boise State)
He ran good routes and created consistent separation. He displayed reliable hands and caught the ball away from his frame. He is a lot quicker in and out of his breaks than most defenders realize at first glance.
WR Braxton Berrios (Miami, FL)
He has flashed the first two days, but he put together his most consistent practice on Thursday. He is a slot receiver who is very quick in and out of his breaks. He ran precise routes. The QB’s were looking in his direction especially on key downs. At times, Berrios has a tendency to catch the ball with his body, which is something he needs to clean up.
CB Duke Dawson (Florida)
He was excellent in press coverage in the one on one’s. Dawson was physical with receivers at the line of scrimmage. He displayed good instincts, clos9ing speed, awareness and quick feet. He attacked the ball while it was in the air and had a couple of PBU’s. He is a nickel corner at the next level.
OT Wyatt Teller (Virginia Tech)
He is very strong. He sustained his blocks well and controlled the defenders through the whistle. He showed very good hand placement and maintained his balance. He displayed the ability to reset in pass pro.
S Trayvon Henderson (Hawaii)
He impressed me with his pass coverage skills in the one on one’s. He displayed outstanding change of directions skills and instincts. He showed good ball skills by intercepting a pass that was intended for TE Mike Gesicki.
South Team
QB Mike White (South Florida)
He was better on Wednesday, but he still put together a good practice session today. He showed good ball placement and demonstrated great pocket awareness. He threw a tight spiral and had good zip behind his throws. However, he forced the ball into coverage on a few occasions, which would have resulted in INT’s at the next level.
LB Darius Leonard (South Carolina State)
He is a versatile, athletic LB with long arms. He has good speed and he changes directions well. I was impressed with how fluid he looked in coverage during Thursday’s practice. He blanketed RB’s and TE’s in the one on one’s.
OG Isaiah Wynn (Georgia)
He is a technician who once again was one of the big winners. He manhandled defenders in the run game and delivered a powerful initial punch. He finishes his blocks and was once again stout in the one on one’s.
RB Darrel Williams (LSU)
He excelled in pass protection and caught every single pass coming out of the backfield.
DE Marcus Davenport (UTSA)
He finally stepped up during the final practice. He caused consistent pressure and caused havoc behind the line of scrimmage during the team portion. He used his length, speed and a quick first step to get around the edge. He also beat a LT with a great inside move for a sack. He showed glimpses of why the scouts believe he is a top 15 pick.
