Brandon Sampson

Wide Receiver – Senior

Midwestern State

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Brandon Sampson:  I am 5’9, about 188 and my forty was 4.46 hand time.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Brandon Sampson:  I am training close to the school.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell me about an all-star game that you participated in.

Brandon Sampson:  I went to an all-star game in Miami.  It was called Podium Showcase from February 1st – 3rd.  It was a fun experience.  There were D-I and D-II guys there.  We also did the Combine there.  They had a couple of Arena teams, Saskatchewan (Canadian team) and a couple of international teams.

Alex Khvatov:  What can we expect from you at the Pro Day?

Brandon Sampson:  My pro day will be on March 31st at Texas A&M Commerce.  I am going to try to run a faster forty.  I got stronger which will help me with my vertical, broad jump and bench press.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Brandon Sampson:  My SAT scores weren’t the best.  I took the JUCO route.  I went to a regular community college from 2011-2012.  I didn’t play football there.  I sat out between 2012-2014.  In 2014, I went to play football at Monterey Community College in CA.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you decide to transfer to Midwestern State?

Brandon Sampson:  I had a few D-II offers.  One of my former coaches at JUCO was on the staff at Midwestern State.  He actually helped me get an offer.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career.

Brandon Sampson:  At Midwestern State, I played in all 11 games as a junior, but didn’t start any.  I had some clutch catches.  During my senior year, I became one of the premier guys on the team.  I became a third down guy for the team.  I was also a return specialist.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Brandon Sampson:  Blocking.  I am very aggressive when the ball is in the air.  I am a quick and shifty guy.  I don’t get jammed.  I am an elusive slot WR.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Brandon Sampson:  Just make sure that my hands stay strong and brush up on more blocking.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Brandon Sampson:  When I had three catches and two TD’s in a conference championship game.  We won the game.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Brandon Sampson:  Baltimore Ravens.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Brandon Sampson:  Tavon Austin.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a WR?

Brandon Sampson:  The best trait is being able to block.  You can catch the ball, but if you can’t put on the line for your brothers, you are not a special receiver.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Brandon Sampson:  WR Tyrique Edwards, WR Xavier Land and RB Vincent Johnson.  We have a lot of NFL caliber guys.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced during your career?

Brandon Sampson:  The best player is Devron Davis from UTSA.  He is projected to go in the draft.  I played him at a junior college.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Brandon Sampson:  The bond that you form with your teammates from training camp to the end of the season.  Football helped me grow as a man.  It kept me on a straight path.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Brandon Sampson:  I used to play baseball.  I like to go to the batting cages.  I like to make music.  I am also an entrepreneur.  I have a clothing line.  I wanted to kick start that before my college career was over.  I want to open up a clothing store in LA.  My slogan for the clothing line is Savage (See Adversities Value and Generate Excellence).  I want to keep it at a fair price.

Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Brandon Sampson is….

Brandon Sampson:  A well-oriented young man.  I am very coachable.  I will sacrifice for the greater cause of the team.  I am looking for an opportunity.
