Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Jeremy Taylor: I am 5’11, 197 and my projected time is between a 4.4 – 4.5.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Jeremy Taylor: I am training at Black Dog Athletics in Greensboro, North Carolina. I am working on my bench press and speed there. I am also working out at Fitness Zone gym with Will Powell. I am doing lifting, endurance and conditioning.
Alex Khvatov: When is your Pro Day and what can we expect from you on that day?
Jeremy Taylor: It is either on April 2nd or April 9th at North Carolina A&T. I plan to do well. I came from a bowl all-star game on January 14th. I was still in shape from the season. I started training. I am hoping to get my numbers down and gain more weight. I was 187 pounds when the season ended. I gained 10 pounds already.
Alex Khvatov: Tell us about the all-star game that you participated in.
Jeremy Taylor: It was HBCU Spirit of America Bowl. It took place on January 14th in Salem, Virginia. It went well. I started the game and I at Sam LB and safety. I finished the game with eight tackles, one sack, one INT, one QB hurry and one pass break up.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Jeremy Taylor: I wasn’t really scouted at all. North Carolina A&T was looking at my high school teammate WR Denzel Keyes. I sent my tape to them. They offered a preferred walk-on position. I earned the scholarship my junior year.
Alex Khvatov: Describe your overall career.
Jeremy Taylor: I earned the scholarship as a junior. I came out and started as a LB that year. I had 10+ tackles in three straight games. I had 17 tackles, two sacks, an INT, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three pass breakups against Kent State. That was my best game. I led the team in tackles. I finished with four INT’s. I led the team in tackles again as a senior. I played rover my last year. I made the All-Conference team my junior and senior years. I was named to BOXTOROW All-America team my senior year.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Jeremy Taylor: I have natural instincts. I am a ball hawk. I read the defense well. I am very versatile. I will come down in the box and I know how to cover. I can play nickel or rover.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Jeremy Taylor: Gaining weight and working on speed. I have to get my feet a lot quicker.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Jeremy Taylor: We are a senior class that accomplished the most wins in school history. As a program, we also had the most wins in the conference during a four-year stretch. We won 40 games.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Jeremy Taylor: I have no favorite team. I just like to watch football.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Jeremy Taylor: Kam Chancellor.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for a safety?
Jeremy Taylor: In the run game, you have to come downhill and hit. I can do that. In the passing game, you have to be able to cover and open up those hips and feet.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?
Jeremy Taylor: QB Lamar Raynard was named MEAC offensive player of the year. RB Marquell Cartwright and WR Elijah Bell.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your teammate OT Brandon Parker?
Jeremy Taylor: He works very hard. He is very big and athletic. He can play basketball. He moves well and plays with heart.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the best player that you have faced during your career?
Jeremy Taylor: Tarik Cohen. He was my former teammate. I faced him every day in practice.
Alex Khvatov: Which NFL player would you compare your game to?
Jeremy Taylor: Eric Berry or Tyrann Mathieu. They know how to get to the ball and are always around it.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Jeremy Taylor: The adrenaline. It is the excitement of playing the game. You are running around like in your backyard and having fun.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Jeremy Taylor: I just graduated in computer engineering. We had a lot of team project to do. I was busy doing that.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Jeremy Taylor: After football, I want to go into software development.
