Dallas Goedert Interview

Dallas Goedert

Tight End – Senior

South Dakota State

Alex Khvatov:  What is it like getting an invitation to the Senior Bowl?

Dallas Goedert:  It is a huge honor.  Knowing that I had an opportunity to do it at the beginning of the year.  Phil Savage came out to one of the practices.  The invite was really cool.  Making friends out here with the rest of the guys.  It is an awesome experience.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to show NFL teams out here this week?

Dallas Goedert:  Playing in the FCS level doesn’t determine who I am.  I want to show them that I can win and compete at this level as well.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths on the field?

Dallas Goedert:  My athleticism and playmaking ability.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Dallas Goedert:  Showing all NFL teams that I am a very willing and able blocker.  I didn’t get to do a ton of it in college.  I also want to show them that I run crisp routes.

Alex Khvatov:  Does being a former basketball player give you an advantage on the football field?

Dallas Goedert:  Yeah, it is definitely an advantage.  Playing multiple sports is a huge thing.  All sports kind of correlate in some way.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at South Dakota State?

Dallas Goedert:  I wasn’t heavily recruited out of high school.  I had more recruiting basketball wise than football.  I was pretty close to going to a D-II school, Northern State University.  Then coach from South Dakota State came to talk to me.  I decided to go there.  I thought that it would give me the best shot to get to the NFL level.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your proudest moment at South Dakota State?

Dallas Goedert:  It was really cool to finish college and get my degree.  All of the friends and family that I made there.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your teammate WR Jake Weineke?

Dallas Goedert:  It is a great dude.  He is a very good competitor and a tremendous athlete.  We had the lockers next to each other.  He always smiled.  He is one of the best dudes.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career to us.

Dallas Goedert:  As a team, we made it to the playoffs.  We made it to the semifinals this year.  It was the furthest that we have ever gone.  We kind of had a disappointing loss there.  Nothing you can do about it now.  As an individual, I had a lot of success at South Dakota State.  I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.  We had a great QB, great RB’s and a terrific OL.

Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Dallas Goedert is….

Dallas Goedert:  A competitor.
