Micah Kiser Interview

Micah Kiser

Linebacker – Senior

Virginia

Alex Khvatov:  What is it like getting an invite to the Senior Bowl?

Micah Kiser:  It is an honor.  I have been watching this on NFL Network since I have been a kid.  Watching guys come in and compete.  To be selected as one of the best players in this class and show what I can do is a great honor.

Alex Khvatov:  What does it feel like to have your Virginia teammates here with you?

Micah Kiser:  It’s really cool.  Three guys are here from our defense.  Having Kurt Benkert throw the ball out here.  It shows that we have some talent coming through Virginia.  Our team will keep getting better.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to show NFL teams this week?

Micah Kiser:  I want to show that I can play in space and be an athlete.  I can cover the pass well.  I want to be a consistent player out here.  I want to make plays.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths on the field?

Micah Kiser:  I have very good instincts for the game.  I am always around the ball.  I am a solid playmaker.  I am a leader on the field.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Micah Kiser:  The biggest focus is to keep working on my speed.  I want to come out to the Combine and have a good forty time.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Micah Kiser:  I am training with Pete Bommarito in Miami.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your overall career at Virginia.

Micah Kiser:  I had pretty good individual success.  I led the ACC in tackles three years in a row.  I was All-ACC player during those three years.  I won the Campbell Trophy.  I showed good academic success as well.  It means a lot to me.  I strived to be the best in everything that I was doing.  As a team, we turned it around this year.  We got to a bowl game.  The program is headed in the right direction.  I came out here to just keep improving and keep getting better as a football player.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the toughest player that you have played against?

Micah Kiser:  Lamar Jackson is a great player.  He is very fast.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a LB?

Micah Kiser:  You have to be smart.  You have to have good technique and fundamentals.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at Virginia?

Micah Kiser:  I wasn’t heavily recruited.  But I was a solid recruit.  A former teammate of mine in high school committed to Virginia.  He went there and was having some immediate success.  I liked the school.  It had great football and academics.  It made great sense for me to go there.

Alex Khvatov:  What positions did you play in high school?

Micah Kiser:  I played TE and LB.

Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Micah Kiser is….

Micah Kiser:  Consistent.
