Quin Blanding Interview

Quin Blanding

Safety – Senior

Virginia

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about this experience at the Senior Bowl.

Quin Blanding:  It’s been great.  Just reconnecting with guys that I haven’t seen in a long time.  It is an honor meeting all of the scouts and talking with the teams.  We are learning the playbook.  It is a fun experience right now.  I am looking forward as the week goes on.  Continue to build relationships and learn more about this game.

Alex Khvatov:  What does it feel like to have your Virginia teammates here with you?

Quin Blanding:  It feels great.  A lot of people doubt Virginia.  We are the top guys here at our position.  It is an honor to be from Virginia.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your career at Virginia.

Quin Blanding:  I will start with team first.  We made it to a bowl game.  It took four years to get there, but we accomplished it.  I laid out down the foundation with Micah (Kiser), Andrew (Brown) and Kurt Benkert.  We got our team to a bowl game that we talked about in the wintertime.  Individually, I became the all-time leading tackler in school history.  I hope that it doesn’t get broken any time soon.  My IQ is getting better and better each day.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to prove to NFL teams this week?

Quin Blanding:  I want to show them that I can cover.  I want to show them that I have quick hips.  I have speed.  They already know that I can tackle.  I am smart for the game.  I want to show them that I am very versatile.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest question mark about you?

Quin Blanding:  How fast I am.  With my hamstring, I was kind of restricted from doing a lot.  I couldn’t really run and open up like I wanted to because my leg was all wrapped up.  I have speed.  I feel 100% here.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the toughest player that you have played against?

Quin Blanding:  Lamar Jackson is the toughest.  He is a very dominant guy.  He can kill you with his feet, but his arm as well.  It is always a challenge preparing for a guy like that.  You don’t know what to expect.
