Jimmy Williams Interview

Jimmy Williams

Wide Receiver – Senior

East Carolina

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Jimmy Williams:  About 5’11, 195 and 4.4.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Jimmy Williams:  At Premier Sports Academy in Greenville, North Carolina with Terrance Copper.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your expectations for the Pro Day?

Jimmy Williams:  It will take place on Thursday, March 29th.  I will display everything.  It is a combine type of event.  I want to run fast, jump high and show my strength.  I also want to show what I can do on the field.  My expectations are high.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Jimmy Williams:  I played QB in high school.  I went to Washington high school in North Carolina.  It is a small school.  I was recruited as an athlete coming out.  I wanted to play the skill position.  I wasn’t highly recruited.  I had offers from smaller schools.  I converted from QB to WR.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose East Carolina?

Jimmy Williams:  ECU was my only D-I offer.  ECU offered me a preferred walk-on spot.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career.

Jimmy Williams:  We accomplished a lot of different things at ECU.  We just had a different type of personality.  We were really close as a team.  I was there for five seasons.  We had the culture.  We had a good offensive staff.  I played as a freshman.  I became a starter the following season.  I had 179 yards and two TD’s versus Virginia Tech my junior year.  I had a big game even though we lost the game.  There was good and bad every year.  We didn’t win as many games the last two seasons.  I wouldn’t have replaced it for anything else.  I loved being around in Greenville.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Jimmy Williams:  It is all about football with me.  I read defenses well and I know what other teams will do.  On the field, I am always producing whether it is catching or blocking.  My biggest strength is just understanding the game and playing off instincts.  I am fast.  I can be a downfield threat.  I am a good runner with the ball in my hands.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Jimmy Williams:  Working on my route running.  It is something I can improve on.  It hasn’t always been the best.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Jimmy Williams:  My senior year.  The season went bad as far as wins and losses.  But I have been able to reflect about what I have seen during my time at ECU.  I had my son out there with me.  He had the chance to stand out there with me one last time.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Jimmy Williams:  I like the Patriots.  I have liked them ever since I started watching football.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Jimmy Williams:  My favorite player is Antonio Brown.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a WR?

Jimmy Williams:  Nobody cares about your problems.  You can get held on the field and get bad looks from the QB.  You are on the field to make plays.  You have to do whatever it takes.  Just continue to go to work.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Jimmy Williams:  WR Trevon Brown.  WR Terrell Green should break out next season.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced during your career?

Jimmy Williams:  DE Dante Fowler from Florida.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Jimmy Williams:  I am very passionate about the game.  I love it.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Jimmy Williams:  I like to sleep.  I like playing with my dog.

Alex Khvatov:  How has fatherhood changed your outlook on life?

Jimmy Williams:  It changed it completely.  I do things differently now.  Someone else is watching you.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Jimmy Williams:  I want to coach football in high school.

Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Jimmy Williams is….

Jimmy Williams:  Great.
