Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Nick McBeath: I measured in at 6’0 ½, weighed in at 223 and I don’t know my official forty time was. My range was between a 4.69 – 4.77 at the pro day. During training, I was consistently in the 4.62 – 4.68 range.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Nick McBeath: At Exceed Sports in Massachusetts.
Alex Khvatov: Were you satisfied with your overall Pro Day results?
Nick McBeath: My numbers were pretty good, but I could have run a better forty. My change of direction skills were good. I did really well in the positional drills. Scouts took notice while I was doing the drills. I had a 9’10 broad, vertical was 31.5, bench was 21 and shuttle was a 4.27.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Nick McBeath: I had FIU, App State, FAU and UMass. I had about 13 FCS offers. I actually committed to UMass, but coaches got fired a couple of weeks before signing period. The new coaching staff weren’t going to honor my commitment.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you choose Holy Cross?
Nick McBeath: I started calling FCS schools. In the end, it came down to Lafayette and Holy Cross. I fell in love with the place when I went there for a visit.
Alex Khvatov: Describe your overall career with the Crusaders.
Nick McBeath: As a team, we didn’t win as many games as we wanted. We were 4-7 three out of the four years. I made a lot of brothers and friends. I was a three- year starter. I was a captain my senior year. I made All-Conference my junior and senior year. I made the All-American list my senior season.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Nick McBeath: My short area quickness and agility. It sets me apart from the rest. I also give 110% effort on every play. My tackling is also my strong suit.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Nick McBeath: Trying to get consistency with my pad level. I will raise up when I try to disengage from the block. I am also working on hand placement.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Nick McBeath: Beating New Hampshire by 25 points my senior year. They were favored by three touchdowns. We came in and beat them. They were ranked high.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Nick McBeath: I grew up in Miami. I am a Dolphins fan.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your experience at the College Gridiron Showcase?
Nick McBeath: It was definitely a good time. I talked to a few teams. I made a whole bunch of friends. I played against great opponents from bigger schools.
Alex Khvatov: What is the biggest thing that you took away from that all-star event?
Nick McBeath: I was already confident going in. But I realized that I could play with anybody. I showed scouts that I could compete with anybody.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Nick McBeath: My favorite LB is Deone Bucannon. I model my game after him.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for a LB?
Nick McBeath: Leadership is the most important quality. You are the QB of the defense. You make field adjustments and direct traffic. Teammates look up to you.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?
Nick McBeath: WR Blaise Bell will be a redshirt SR. He should have a great year. Middle LB Ryan Brady had over 100 tackles this year. He should have another great season next year.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the best player that you have faced during your career?
Nick McBeath: In college, it was Fordham’s RB Chase Edmonds. He went to the Combine.
Alex Khvatov: What NFL player would you compare your game to?
Nick McBeath: Deone Bucannon. We have similar size and skill set. He plays fast and physical.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Nick McBeath: I love the game. I have been playing it since I was seven years old. The physicality, competitiveness and camaraderie are the best things about football. I have met all of my best friends while playing this sport.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Nick McBeath: Football is a huge part of me. I play video games and pick up basketball.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Nick McBeath: I love football and sports. I want to try and do something on the business side of sports. I would like to work in a front office of an NFL team.

Nick McBeath: An intense player who plays with a lot of passion. Off the field, I am pretty laid back, but focused on the goals and tests at hand.
