Dewey Jarvis
Linebacker – Senior
Brown
Alex Khvatov: What is it like being here at the Senior Bowl?
Dewey Jarvis: It is amazing to be here. I am the first person from my school to make it out here. It is an amazing opportunity to represent the Ivy League. I am from a smaller school and a smaller conference. It is super exciting to play in a big game like this.
Alex Khvatov: Do you have a chip on your shoulder coming from a smaller school?
Dewey Jarvis: My name doesn’t mean as much as the players from bigger schools. I am not going to back down. I will go at them.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to show NFL teams this week?
Dewey Jarvis: I want to prove that I can hang with these guys. I want to show that I can actually shine on this level. You get overlooked sometimes when you play in the FCS. There is no reason for it. I will work hard.
Alex Khvatov: What have you picked up from the NFL coaches this week?
Dewey Jarvis: At this level, they expect you to have the higher knowledge of the game. They expect you to know a lot. You have to work at top notch pace all the time.
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at Brown?
Dewey Jarvis: I was under recruited coming out of high school due to knee injuries. I had a great interaction with a defensive coordinator from Brown. He came to my high school and asked me to compete at their camp. I was so worried my first day at the camp. My knee wasn’t feeling great. He told me to stick it out and keep on competing. On the third day, I ended up playing very well. I was offered on the spot. I didn’t look back. I accepted the offer. I had an opportunity to go to an amazing school. I have made the most of this opportunity.
Alex Khvatov: What was your major at Brown?
Dewey Jarvis: I was a biology major. One day, I want to finish up med school.
Alex Khvatov: Who was the toughest player that you have played against?
Dewey Jarvis: The best player I played against was WR Justin Watson. He is actually here. Another guy on film that I watched was Tyler Varga. I never actually played against him. He played in the NFL a short time. He was amazing to watch.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths on the field?
Dewey Jarvis: I bring speed and high energy.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Dewey Jarvis: Football IQ and getting used to the pace of the game as it speeds up. I need to get used to the physicality at this level.
