Justin Jones
Defensive Tackle – Senior
NC State
Alex Khvatov: Tell us about this Senior Bowl experience.
Justin Jones: First of all, it is a great opportunity. I am blessed to be here. You can build the connections between the players and the coaches. The staff is wonderful here. The people in Mobile are excellent. We went to this event last night, and everybody was really friendly. This place already feels like home.
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at NC State?
Justin Jones: I grew up with Bradley Chubb. We have known each other since sixth or seventh grade. We train together all through middle school and high school. We started getting the same offers from Mississippi State, Wake Forest and Duke. We took the same visits. We went to Duke for a visit. After the visit, he told that he was going to NC State, and I didn’t know anything about the school. I talked to their coaches. They seemed nice. I believed in the coaches and their plan. You can tell that the coaching staff had a plan for the future. I decided to go to NC State.
Alex Khvatov: NC State is a school on the rise. What can we expect from the football program moving forward?
Justin Jones: It is a good group of guys. They have great coaches. They love each other. The players have bought in. I expect them to have a very good season next year. They have a lot of great players.
Alex Khvatov: Describe your former teammates DL Bradley Chubb, B.J. Hill and Kentavius Street.
Justin Jones: Let’s start with No.9. Bradley is a big ball of energy. He works hard. He practices extremely hard. I have never seen anything like it. It is no surprise that he makes so many plays on the field. B.J. is a technician. He has been here forever. He takes it day by day. He got better every day. Street is really quiet. He is a freak. He is a great athlete. He is really impressive in the weight room and he runs very fast. Chubb made a lot of plays, but we wouldn’t be who we are without each other. We played off each other. It takes all four to get a sack.
Alex Khvatov: Give me a scouting report on yourself.
Justin Jones: I feel like I am my biggest critic. It is never perfect. I am pretty explosive coming off the ball. My point of attack is good. I am a student of the game. I need to work on my hands. I need to continue to learn the game more. I am a really good team player. I bring those intangibles.
Alex Khvatov: Who was the best player that you have played against?
Justin Jones: Quenton Nelson from Notre Dame. Their OL as a whole was really good. They had good communication. They never gave anything away. They are smart players. They do their job really well.
Alex Khvatov: Besides QB Ryan Finley, what other players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?
Justin Jones: DE Darian Roseboro, DT Eurndraus Bryant, WR Kelvin Harmon and WR Stephen Louis.
