2018 FCS Bowl

Here are the players who have helped themselves the most during the 2018 FCS Bowl all-star game weekend.

OT Israel Helms (Wayne State)

He was First Team All-Conference.  He played LT the last two seasons.  He measured in at almost 6’5, 303 pounds.  He has the frame to add more weight.  Helms has very long arms and a huge wingspan.  He sustains his blocks well and showed good hand placement.  He displayed good feet.  He was one of the more impressive players during this all-star game weekend.

DT Connor Christian (Jacksonville State)

He is an undersized DT (almost 6’2, 276 pounds), but he is incredibly quick.  Christian spent two seasons at Jacksonville State after transferring from Savannah State.  He dominated in the one on one’s at the FCS Bowl.  He showed a variety of pass rush moves, but relied mostly on his quickness.  He also used his hands well and displayed a non-stop motor.

OL Thomas Dennis (University of Pennsylvania)

Dennis was a Second Team All-Ivy in 2017.  He has been the key cog on the OL at Penn for the last couple of years.  He hasn’t allowed a single sack during his junior and senior years.  He measured in at 6’4 3/8 and 304 pounds.  He has played OT, but projects inside at guard at the next level.  He is a technician who plays with great leverage.  He is a tough, smart OL.  He understands angles and is able to reset in pass pro.

WR Aaron Blockmon (Campbell University)

He is Campbell’s career leader in catches (105), receiving yards (2,067 yards) and TD’s (20).  He is 5’11 and 209 pounds.  He has a good build.  Blockmon displays strong hands and terrific body control.  He knows how to use his hands to defeat press coverage and makes tough grabs in traffic.  He ran good routes during the two days of practice.  He was also a vocal leader.

WR Richard Johnson (East Texas Baptist University)

Johnson had his best season as a junior when he posted 56 catches for 1,070 yards and 15 TD’s.  He was a First Team All-Conference receiver two straight years.  He is also school’s all-time TD receptions leader.  He is almost 6’3, 207 pounds.  He displays good hands and catches the ball away from his frame.  He is a deep threat and locates the ball well on downfield throws.  He also has terrific body control.  However, he needs to add more strength to his frame and has to do a better job against press coverage.
