Quinn McElfresh:  I will be training at D1 sports in Tampa, Florida.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall experience at the FCS Bowl all-star game.

Quinn McElfresh:  The FCS Bowl was an amazing experience.  It was an honor to be able to go against some of the top FCS talent in the nation and being coached by some very good coaches.  As well as, being able to perform in front of NFL, CFL and other professional league scouts.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest thing that you will take away from that weekend?

Quinn McElfresh:  The biggest thing I took away from the weekend was just realizing how truly blessed and thankful I was to be able to participate in the FCS bowl.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the best player that you faced at the FCS Bowl?

Quinn McElfresh:  There were a lot of good players in the bowl, it is tough to pick just one player.  However, a couple players that stood out were Malik Brown and Gilbert Gildersleeve.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Quinn McElfresh:  Coming out of high school, the University of North Dakota, Bemidji State, Winona State and some other schools in Minnesota showed interest in me.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at JUCO?

Quinn McElfresh:  I went to junior college because I wanted a chance to develop and work on my game for two more years and see what other offers, I could get.  I was also able to play against some very good competition in California.  It was a great experience and taught me a lot about football, life and myself.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you transfer to Mississippi Valley State?

Quinn McElfresh:  I transferred to Mississippi Valley State because I knew of the rich history of football players that have come from Valley, especially wide receivers ((Jerry Rice) and quarterbacks.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Quinn McElfresh:  My strengths are my ball skills/hands, route running/route discipline, blocking, physicality, in depth knowledge of the game, my ability to adapt and learn quickly and my passion and love for the game.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Quinn McElfresh:  I am always trying to improve on all aspects of my game.  I am consistently working on my releases, the top of my routes, my quickness, my speed and many other things.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career.

Quinn McElfresh:  I had a very good career.  My junior season, I led the conference in receiving yards and receptions in the regular season.  I learned a lot in my four years at college and was lucky enough to be taught from some very good coaches.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Quinn McElfresh:  The highlight of my career up to this point is getting all conference, SWAC newcomer of the year, and leading the conference in yards and receptions in the regular season.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest accomplishment that you are most proud of?

Quinn McElfresh:  The biggest accomplishment in college that I am most proud of is my 3.63 GPA.  I have worked very hard for it.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest thing that you have you learned from your coaching staff?

Quinn McElfresh:  My coaches have taught me a lot.  They taught me how to be a better person, as well as always giving me life lessons.  Also, that in order to be successful in life, it will take a lot of work and it won’t be easy.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Quinn McElfresh:  Minnesota Vikings.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Quinn McElfresh:  Adam Thielen.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a WR?

Quinn McElfresh:  Perseverance.

Alex Khvatov:  Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the defense?

Quinn McElfresh:  I am looking for where and how deep the safeties are, how deep the corner is, and if the corner has inside leverage/outside, and by this information I can determine what coverage the defense is in.  For example, on film we might have noticed that if the safeties aren’t on the same plane and one is lower, then they might be rolling to cover three.  Or if the safety is off the hash away, and the corner is creeping inside, then there might be a corner blitz coming.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on next season?

Quinn McElfresh:  Dominique Shelton, JohnDerrick Smith, Tracy Thompkins and Jett Even are definitely some players to watch.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you played against during your college career?

Quinn McElfresh:  Rishad Goode is the best player I have faced in college.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Quinn McElfresh:  The thing I enjoy most about football is having people from so many different places on a team and having everyone come together as a family.  I have formed a bond with my teammates that I will always have.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your biggest role model and why?

Quinn McElfresh:  My parents are my biggest role models because they have always been there for me.  Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your definition of a leader?

Quinn McElfresh:  My definition of a leader is someone who creates a standard for the team by leading by example.  Someone who inspires other people to become the best players they can be.
