Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Kyle Vasey:  Height is 6’3, weight is between 248 – 250 and last forty was a 4.98.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Kyle Vasey:  At the school.  We have a great strength staff here at Penn State.  I know that I can excel here.

Alex Khvatov:  You got an invitation to play at the 2019 Tropical Bowl all-star game.  How do you feel about that opportunity?

Kyle Vasey:  It means the world to me.  I will be able to play my last game.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Kyle Vasey:  I had interest for long snapper from Rutgers, Penn State and Temple.  I only attended one camp in high school and I got first place.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Penn State?

Kyle Vasey:  I wanted go to a place that had the academics and a big football tradition.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Kyle Vasey:  Physicality and the ability to play under pressure.  Every single play is important in the Big 10.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Kyle Vasey:  The special teams’ schemes are a lot more complex at the next level.  They have MLB and OLB coming up the A gap.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career to us.

Kyle Vasey:  I almost got cut two years in a row.  I was not performing my true freshman and redshirt freshman years.  I wasn’t performing.  I stepped up my game and became a starter the last two years.  We made two New Year bowls.  We played against Kentucky in a bowl game this year.  Last year, it was Washington and two years ago we played against USC.  I snapped for one of the better punters in Blake Gillikin.  He is a fantastic guy.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your former teammate QB Trace McSorley?

Kyle Vasey:  He is a fantastic leader.  He is not the most vocal guy.  But he stepped up right away as a freshman in summer workouts.  He was leading the pack already back then.  He is an incredible guy to be around.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your biggest accomplishment that you are most proud of?

Kyle Vasey:  Graduating.  I came to college and got my degree.  Going from almost getting cut twice, becoming a starter and excelling.

Alex Khvatov:  What have you learned the most from your head coach James Franklin and the rest of the coaching staff?

Kyle Vasey:  The mentality, positive attitude, great work ethic and competing in everything you do.  If you are willing to apply those four things in that order, you can’t fail.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Kyle Vasey:  I became a Bucs fan after they won a Super Bowl.  I was their biggest fan.  My grandfather was always a Packers fan, and it rubbed off on me.  I caught on to it.  I am a Packers fan now.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Kyle Vasey:  I like LS Luke Rhodes because of his overall athleticism.  Off course, Tom Brady because he is a such a proven winner.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a LS?

Kyle Vasey:  You have to bounce back and forget the last play, whether it was the best play or a bad play.  You have to live in the moment and focus on the now.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next

season?

Kyle Vasey:  Punter Blake Gillikin has good placement and a monster leg.  LB Micah Parsons is a total freak.  OL Michal Menet is a hard-nosed lineman.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the toughest player that you have faced on an opposing team?

Kyle Vasey:  Face to face, it was Vita Vea.  I have never been hit like that in my life.  I felt that pain for three weeks.  I have never seen a guy with his size and overall athleticism.  It was cool to absorb that hit, but it definitely hurt at the time.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Kyle Vasey:  I have grown up around the game.  I started playing when I was five years old.  I love the camaraderie in the locker room.  My teammates became family.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your biggest role model and why?

Kyle Vasey:  My mom and dad.  We were very fortunate to have them as parents.  My brother is a walk on at Penn State.  He is a DE at 6’5, 260 pounds.  He is going into his junior year.  He hasn’t earned a scholarship yet, but he will.  Up until my senior year, I was a walk on.  I worked a regular job.  I worked at a local bar.  I worked 35 hours a week and I earned a scholarship my senior year during the summer workouts.  Coach Franklin gave me a scholarship.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Kyle Vasey:  There is not much free time.  I love to go fishing and skiing.  I love being outdoors.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Kyle Vasey:  I earned my degree in rehabilitation and human services.  I want to become a police officer and work at the FBI.

Alex Khvatov:  What five words best describe you?

Kyle Vasey:  Patient, hardworking, charismatic, positive and competitive.

Alex Khvatov:  Who will win Super Bowl LIII in February?

Kyle Vasey:  I attend Penn State, so I am around Eagles fans.   I will go with the Eagles.
