Alex Khvatov:  Tell me about your experience at the 2019 East/West Shrine Game.

Malik Carney:  It’s everything.  It is another opportunity to show my talent, my skillset and versatility.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to prove to scouts during this week?

Malik Carney:  My versatility.  I can play OLB and come off the edge.  I have a crazy motor.  I am a relentless guy.  I have an unbelievable effort.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Malik Carney:  Coming off the edge.  I bring a lot of versatility.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Malik Carney:  Scoop and score against GA Tech.  My nickname is “Scoop”.  I am always able to get a strip.  Another highlight is in 2016 when I sacked Francois for a safety.  But they called it back at the one-yard line.  Also in 2016 and in 2018 against Miami, I had a strip and sack.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Malik Carney:  In San Diego at EXOS.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Malik Carney:  The little things like get off, hand placement and footwork.  Just putting my hands in the right place.

Alex Khvatov:  You had some off the field issues at UNC.  Tell us about that incident.

Malik Carney:  It is as simple as it gets.  We were issued a pair of team shoes.  After the meeting, a couple of guys came up to me and offered me money for the shoes.  I took the highest bid.  I come from family with low income.  I decided to sell the shoes.  Looking back on it, it bit me in the behind.

Alex Khvatov:  How many games did you miss?

Malik Carney:  I got suspended and missed four games.  UCF game got cancelled due to weather.

Alex Khvatov:  What one word best describes you?

Malik Carney:  Relentless.
