OL Oli Udoh (Elon) Shrine Game Interview

Olisaemeka Udoh
Offensive Lineman
Elon

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at Elon?

Olisaemeka Udoh:  Inexperience in a way.  I played OL only my senior year of high school.  It is the only tape I had.  I guess the bigger schools in state didn’t want to trust me.  Elon got blessed with a really good coach.  I knew that he would help me get to where I am right now.

Alex Khvatov:  When did you start playing football?

Olisaemeka Udoh:  I tried to play earlier than that, but it got cut short because my family and I liked to vacation in Nigeria.  Both of my parents are from Nigeria.  Didn’t touch it until sophomore year of high school.  I played DL my sophomore year.  Junior year, I also played DL.

Alex Khvatov:  What did you accomplish during your career at Elon?

Olisaemeka Udoh:  As a team, we went to the playoffs two straight years.  We lost in the playoffs especially because of injuries this year.  We did pretty good these past two years.  New coach helped us out.  He moved to James Madison.  I was a four-year starter at OT.  I was an All-American three years.  I was first team All-CAA.  I was also OL of the year on one of those All-American lists.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your overall experience at the 2019 East/West Shrine Game.

Olisaemeka Udoh:  It is very humbling.  I am glad that I can compete against some of the better athletes in the nation.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Olisaemeka Udoh:  I am a really good pass protector.  Pretty physical.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Olisaemeka Udoh:  Climbing to the second level and figuring out my targets a little bit faster.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Olisaemeka Udoh:  Beating James Madison at their stadium.  Also beating Richmond two years ago.  It was a shootout when they were ranked #6 in the nation.

Alex Khvatov:  What one word best describes you?

Olisaemeka Udoh:  Determined.
