CB Jordan Wyatt (SMU) Shrine Game Interview

Jordan Wyatt

Cornerback

SMU

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your overall experience at the 2019 East/West Shrine Game.

Jordan Wyatt:  It is definitely a blessing.  It is an opportunity to come out here and show the scouts what you are capable of.  You are showing the work that you have put in during your college career.  It is fun being out here with these other guys.  We are competing against each other.  It is a great experience.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to prove to scouts this week?

Jordan Wyatt:  Show them that I am back to my regular form.  This past season, I was coming off two major injuries.  I was not 100% this season.  By the time I got cleared, it was time for the opening game.  It limited me a little bit this year.  I learned to be patient.  I am still a competitor.  I wanted to go out there and give it my all.  It was a challenging year.  No injuries will hold me back from the Shrine Game.  I am a full go right now.  I am back.

Alex Khvatov:  You are a ball-hawking corner.  How much pride do you take in being that playmaker in the secondary?

Jordan Wyatt:  I take great pride in it.  I give the offense some more possessions.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Jordan Wyatt:  I have a history of forcing turnovers.  I have good ball skills.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Jordan Wyatt:  I am trying to improve on my press coverage.  I kind of struggled with it especially with my knee brace this year.  I can press at the line of scrimmage.  I am not shying away from it.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of you career up to this point?

Jordan Wyatt:  The biggest play that I made was when I broke the school record for defensive TD’s (5 TD’s scored).  It was the biggest blessing for me.  We didn’t get the win that day.  It would have made the moment more special.  I made history at my school.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at SMU?

Jordan Wyatt:  I was under recruited.  I didn’t have that many schools looking at me.  SMU really wanted me.  It was a great opportunity for my family and friends to come to my games.  It turned out to be really good for me.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the toughest WR to cover during this week?

Jordan Wyatt:  Definitely KeeSean Johnson (Fresno State).  He is a really good receiver.  He is very smooth off the line.  He has great hands.  I haven’t seen him drop a pass.  I loved going against him.  We try to make each other better.

Alex Khvatov:  What one word best describes you?

Jordan Wyatt:  Entertaining.
