Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Mavin Saunders: I am 6-5, 250 and I have never run a 40 time.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Mavin Saunders: I am currently training in Houston for the draft.
Alex Khvatov: Describe your overall experience at the 2019 Tropical Bowl.
Mavin Saunders: I had a great experience there. It was a blessing learning from coaches who have coached or played at the highest level and get some advice on how to play the game.
Alex Khvatov: What is the biggest thing that you will take away from the Tropical Bowl?
Mavin Saunders: The biggest thing I will take from the Tropical Bowl is that I have the ability to be successful against top notch competition.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Mavin Saunders: Florida State, Oregon and Ohio State were my final three.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you choose Florida State?
Mavin Saunders: Florida State was a great program and it was closer to home (Bahamas) where my family would be able to watch me play.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you transfer to Kansas for your final season?
Mavin Saunders: I transferred to Kansas for my final season in hopes of helping the team reach a bowl game and to be utilized more in the passing game and different situations.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Mavin Saunders: I can stretch the field and use my athleticism to make the play. Hard worker who is willing to learn and help the team win.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Mavin Saunders: I am trying to improve on my inline blocking technique. Also continuing to watch film and learn from the best players at the position on how to be successful consistently.
Alex Khvatov: Describe your overall career.
Mavin Saunders: My overall career had its ups and downs. I had successful times at Florida State where I helped the team win.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Mavin Saunders: Winning the Orange Bowl in 2016.
Alex Khvatov: What have you learned the most from your coaching staff?
Mavin Saunders: Both coaching staffs stressed the importance of watching film and working hard every single day.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Mavin Saunders: Texans.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Mavin Saunders: Antonio Gates.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for a TE?
Mavin Saunders: Toughness.
Alex Khvatov: Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the defense?
Mavin Saunders: The tendencies I look at is their alignment, their stance and what their eyes are focused on.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the toughest player that you have faced on an opposing team?
Mavin Saunders: Bradley Chubb.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Mavin Saunders: I enjoy most about football is how difficult it is to succeed and all the work that goes into being a great player.
Alex Khvatov: What is your definition of a leader?
Mavin Saunders: Someone who has a vision and is able to motivate others to reach a common goal. A leader also has to be able to listen and serve others to be successful.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Mavin Saunders: Serving, reading, swimming and fishing.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Mavin Saunders: My goal is to use my platform to serve kids in underprivileged communities here in the United States and Bahamas in some capacity.
