Blace Brown
Cornerback
Troy
Alex Khvatov: How tough was it to make that recovery from the ACL injury prior to your senior year?
Blace Brown: It was tough. The trainers told me that I wouldn’t be back until the sixth game of my senior year. My doctor had a different approach. I was rushing to get back on the field for my first game. I was willing to take on the challenge. I started off shaky, but it helped me get my confidence along the way.
Alex Khvatov: Describe your overall experience at the 2019 East/West Shrine Game.
Blace Brown: I have enjoyed playing against these guys. My knee is feeling great. I am bouncing around. I am loving the high-tempo practices.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to show scouts this week?
Blace Brown: I wanted to answer the question about my knee. I have gotten that question a lot. I am feeling great. I wanted to show how tight I can play in coverage.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Blace Brown: Knowing the receiver tendencies. My length helps me out a lot too.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Blace Brown: My off man coverage skills. I get undisciplined at times. I am working on it this week.
Alex Khvatov: What was it like to be a part of a winning program at Troy the last couple of years under your head coach Neal Brown?
Blace Brown: It feels great to be a part of something bigger than yourself. We had a good culture there. Coach Brown developed a great culture there. That team was a family.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of you career up to this point?
Blace Brown: The LSU game grabbed everyone’s attention. Being a ball-hawk at the CB position. I know that I can make plays on the ball.
Alex Khvatov: What is your proudest moment during your college career?
Blace Brown: I am glad to make my father proud. He played CB at Army. Playing in his shoes. I want to show him that I can compete at the next level.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Blace Brown: In Detroit.
Alex Khvatov: Have you been invited to the Scouting Combine?
Blace Brown: I have been invited. I want to show more ball skills. I want to show off my IQ and 4.4 speed.
Alex Khvatov: What one word best describes you?
Blace Brown: Energetic.
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at Troy?
Blace Brown: There was no interest. I played CB freshman, sophomore and junior years of my high school career. I switched to receiver my senior year. I led the state of Georgia in catches and yards my senior year. It still didn’t help. I went with my mom to Illinois and Wisconsin for some D-III schools. I didn’t feel at home. Kind of gave up on the whole football thing. I told my mom that I will go to a community college and get a regular job. In the summer, Troy called me for a walk-on spot. I took it. I earned a scholarship during the summer of my sophomore year.
