Keelan Doss
Wide Receiver
UC Davis
Ed Hunt: What’s your 40 time?
Keelan Doss: After I’m done training, my goal is to get a high 4.4 or a low 4.5.
Ed Hunt: Is route running something you take pride in?
Keelan Doss: Yes, sir. I watch a lot of film of guys who are successful at it as well. I try to implement from their game to my game. I try to be as efficient as I can.
Ed Hunt: How are you dealing with the pressure of the Senior Bowl?
Keelan Doss: There’s no pressure. It’s just football. Yes, these are the top guys in the country, but I’m glad to be competing against these guys. I compete against top caliber guys during the season. It is nothing new. It’s going to be a fun opportunity to compete, but there’s no pressure.
Ed Hunt: I’ve seen you run from the slot and on the outside. In the NFL, where do you see yourself?
Keelan Doss: I see myself playing both. I’ve had a lot of time in the slot in college. If I make the transition to the NFL, depending on what the offensive scheme is, I could do both.
Ed Hunt: What does blocking mean to you?
Keelan Doss: A lot. There are a lot of times where they are running your way or there’s a screen to a nearby receiver. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure I can take care of my business and make the play efficient.
Ed Hunt: Pre-snap, what are you looking at?
Keelan Doss: I look at the corner. I look at the safety. If he is running on the hash outside, then it is probably a cover 2 variation or possibly two man. If he is moving over to the center of the field, then it is probably cover 1 or cover 3. If he is more toward the hash in college, then it’s a shell look. I look at how the corner is playing me. I look at whether it is press, hard press, motor or soft press. I adjust my route according to those plays.
Ed Hunt: What do you think are your strengths?
Keelan Doss: The ability to catch the football. My versatility. The ability to move me inside and out.
Ed Hunt: What are you working on at the Senior Bowl and in the pre-draft process?
Keelan Doss: I’m always working on my route running. I’m trying to learn from the great coaches that the Raiders are providing for us.
Ed Hunt: How are you learning the concepts?
Keelan Doss: Funny thing is that my first two years, we had a pro-style offense and then we had a coaching change and it was more of a spread offense. I got the best of both worlds. Now that I am going back to the pro-style, it’s not that big of a transformation for me. I’ll spend some time in the playbook and in the walkthroughs and I’ll get it.
